Sukumar Basumatary remembered

The Bodo Sahitya Sabha recalled contributions of late Sukumar Basumatary,who is regarded as Bodo folklorist(Bodo Khuga Thunlaini Oja) towards growth of Bodo literary, on his 20th death anniversary on Tuesday. The anniversary was organized by Bodo Sahitya Sabha central committee in association with Baksa district Sahitya Sabha, held at Barama Murmela LP School ground in Baksa district.

As part of the programme scheduled, Jogen Ramchiary, president of Barama primary Bodo Sabha hoisted half sabha flag while Sahitya Academy awarded Janil Kumar Brahma paid floral homage to late Basumatary followed Sahitya Academy awadee Brajendra Kumar Brahma, Kamala Kanta Mushahary, general secretary, Dipak Kumar Basumatary, Biseswar Basumatary, vice presidents of Bodo Sahitya sabha, Mwnhashar Basumatary, Khrwmshar Basumatary, sons, Anita Brahma Basumatary, daughter in low paid floral tribute on the occasion.

A seminar on the topic of Spelling of Bodo language was also organized on the occasion to mark the observation.

Mentioned be made that Basumatary had compiled 22 books on Bodo folklore.

'Late Basumatary was a man of literary creation, who dedicated his whole life to the uplift of Bodo literary among Bodo community. His dedicated folklore literary creations today got syllabus in University education', said Janil Kumar Brahma.

Security forces apprehended three over ground workers (OGW) of Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) from two different villages on Wednesday morning during search operation in Kokrajhar district. Based on an input about presence of the link men of the KLO, a joint team of police and Rajput regiment carried out search operation and apprehended three link men from different villages under Serfanguri and Kokrajhar PS in Kokrajhar district. They were identified as Amit Roy and Nitai Roy of Bijulibari under Kokrajhar PS and Hitesh Roy of Nepalpara under Serfanguri PS. Security forces apprehended five poachers from Bongaon area under Bhuyanpara forest range in Manas National Park of Baksa district on Monday. The poachers were apprehended along with three country made guns during search operation carried out by army and police in the area.  They were identified as Kamaleswar Basumatary, Peter Islary, Nileswar Islary, Goliath Basumatary and Jeorge Hazoary.  The poachers were involved various anti social activities in the national park, said a senior forest official.
