Ranjit Kumar Das visits Borengajuli Satra

Ranjit Kumar Das the speaker of Assam Legislative assembly made a visit to historic Borengajuli Sankar Dev Satra (Vaishnavite Monastery) located near Indo-Bhutan border area of Udalguri district on Sunday. The journalist turned politician after seeking divine blessing from Hare Krishna Mahanta the satradhikar of the Satra greeted the locals who accorded him warm welcome by recitation of naam-prasanga. It was followed by lightning of lamps by Das which was followed by Thiya Naam recitation.

Participating in an interactive session Das said as like Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva made efforts to integrate all the people of multi ethnic tribe and religion as to build a Bor Assam ; Hare Krishna Mahanta the satradhikar of Borengajuli Satra inspired by life of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha also made similar efforts in integrating Rabha ,Bodo,Adivasi people of the area and built the Borengajuli Satra way back in 1952. Satradhikar Mahanta built 27 Satras across the state .

He rendered his life in spreading the culture and tradition of Vaishnavism. Das should be conferred Sankar Dev Award by state government. Das assured that he will get in touch with Chief Minister and concerned department for conferring the same to the Satradhikar.

Das further praised the efforts of the local people who helped built the beautiful Satra in the remote Indo-Bhutan border area.

The Satradhikar Mahanta also spoke few words on the ocassion. Speaking on the ocassion Kamali Basumatari MLA Panery LAC called on the people to preserve the rich heritage of Sankardeva . Thaneswar Malakar DC Barpeta also spoke on the ocassion. Sadhana Hojai DC Udalguri, Nerswn Boro Speaker BTC were also present on the ocassion .

A power department employee Sujit Barman (40) working under Tangla sub-division APDCL at Hattigarh of Udalguri on contractual basis was electrocuted in Teliapara of Udalguri on Thursday. Reportedly the employee a resident of Ghagra of Udalguri was working atop an electric pole. A pall of gloom has surrounded Ghagra-Hattigorh area following the incident.

A 3rd APBN Police constable posted at the Panery PS of Udalguri allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday evening at about 8.30 pm by shooting himself in the barrack room. The deceased, identified as 38-year-old constable Ramen Borah , shot himself with his service INSAS rifle, said a senior police officer. The constable had shot 1 round which pierced through his head ventilating through the ceiling of the barrack room. He was rushed to Tangla CHC where doctors declared him brought dead. The deceased is a resident of Pulibor Gondhia Gaon of Jorhat district. His body has been sent for post-mortem at Udalguri Civil Hospital. Police are inquiring into the case.

The Holi festivity gripped the people of the town which marks the advent of the spring.Though people were celebrating the festival of color with pomp and gaiety on Monday. Amidst unrest and protest in various parts of state condemning the unprecedented attack by activists of Nikhil Bharat Bengali Udbastu Sammanay  Samiti at AASU’s Silapathar regional office, the Tangla Anchalik Chatra Santha organized a strong protest rally and road blockade programme in the heart of Tangla on Wednesday demanding immediate arrest of the culprits of the Silapathar incident.
