Reiterating its long pending demand of ST status to Adivasi community of state along with hike of daily wages and many other pending issues , the All Adivasi Students’ Association of Assam (AASAA) the influential Adivasi student body of the State, will stage a sit in demonstration and protest rally in Jantar Mantar of New Delhi on December 11.
Pradip Nag President of AASAA had informed that the saffron party at centre through its daily-dilly tactics have been ignoring its pre-poll promises of granting ST status to Adivasi communities of state along with raising daily wages of tea workers. But More than two years term of the UPA had completed,but saffron party had not expressed any willingness in resolving the issues of the Adivasi people of the state .
Expressing resentment over the inordinate delay in granting ST status to the Adivasis,AASAA President Pradip Nag,General Secretary Joseph Minj along with nearly 300 activists of central and district committee in association with Delhi NCR committee will stage a sit in demonstration and protest rally at Jantar Mantar of New Delhi on December 11 from 10 am to 2 pm reiterating their demands for ST status,hike in wages to Rs.330 etc;.
“We believe in democratic principles but this does not imply that we are made to be wait for years for our constitutional right ,” AASAA president Pradip Nag said.
“If our demands are put aside, we will intensify our agitation in coming days,” the AASAA leader added.
