Novel on conservation movement released at press club

A novel on conservation movement, penned by Pankaj Govinda Medhi, was released at Guwahati Press Club on Sunday afternoon. Titled ‘Charai Chuburi’, the novel in Assamese elaborates a distinctive part of the movement to preserve the forest & wildlife across Assam.

Published Banalata, Dibrugarh, the book was officially released by Phanindra Kumar Devchoudhury, editor of Niyamiya Barta, award winning author Bipul Deuri, conservation personality Soumyadeep Dutta and journalist Nava Thakuria. The program was moderated by Manjit Rajkhowa, who designed the cover of the novel.

Security forces are fanning in the nook and corner of Chamdang Tea garden area in search of the militants who exploded a powerful grenade in the wee hours. Immediately after the explosion police and CRPF jawans arrived in the spot and codoned off the entire area for search opertion. The grenade was exploded to terrorise the businessman who was beleived to have received extortion notices along with many other businessmen.   The explosion took place in Chamdang tea garden area in the wee hours when the suspected militants lobbed the grenade at the residence of businessman Mahabir Agarwalla. A residential building was partially damaged when suspected ULFA militants are beleived to have lobbed a powerful grenade in Doomdooma in Tinsukia district on Friday.The explosion took place in Chamdang tea garden area in the wee hours when the suspected militants lobbed the grenade at the residence of businessman Mahabir Agarwalla. The Bengaluru police on Thursday have held three youths a day after they allegedly attacked a Manipur student on the road on Wednesday even as the student is still undergoing treatment at a local nursing home.Police picked up the trio acting on the complaint filed after the incident where the goons attacked the student and branded him as a Chinese nationa on Wednesday night.According to allegations, a three member group of miscreants attacked the student with sharp weapon from behind on the road at night. Despite stringent measures racial attacks on the north eastern people refuse to die down outside the region. Yet another person was killed in New Delhi sending shock and anger in the entire region.Identified as Jirang Kengo, the research fellow with the Tata Institute of Social Science was stabbed to death a couple of days back at his own house in the capital.His body was recovered on Wednesday night from his house at Kotla in New Delhi. President Pranab Mukherjee is on a two days visit to the North East. Mukherjee landed at the Tezpur airport in the afternoon and straightly left fot Tezpur Central University where he attended the 12 th Convocation ceremony.Towards the evening, the President will attend a cultural programme where he would receive a copy of the book, Agnikanya Chandraprabha Saikiani at the same varsity auditorium.On Friday he would attend an army function in the town.
