Govt help denied, strike on

The ABSU and it's allied movement group NDFB-P, PJACBM refused the invitation letter from state government to withdraw the ongoing indefinite hunger strike seeking Bodoland state, which has crossed 100 hours today evening since March 10 in Kokrajhar.

The letter was issued from political and home department of Assam state government, which was reached to agitator group via Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Bibekananda Choudhury in the presence Rajen Singh, SP Kokrajhar. The health condition of the agitators are deteriorate due to strike. A torch rally was organized this evening in support of indefinite hunger strike demanding separate Bodoland state through political dialogue.

The ABSU and movement groups refused to accept the letter which has no any specific mention about scheduling of tripartite talk to the Bodoland issue for which ABSU and it's allied movement groups are taking stern agitation steps. The letter was only requested to withdraw agitation without any clear mention of solution as well measures for Bodoland demands. The ABSU, NDFB-P, PJACBM totally refused the letter and decided to continue its hunger strike till getting responds from Centre over the Bodoland issue.

Hundreds of activists from ABSU, NDFB-P, PJACBM joined hands in the torch rally carried out today in Kokrajhar demanding early creation of Bodoland separate state. The rally was started from near FCI godown along JD Road via fly over and concluded at Kokrajhar Govt HS & MP school ground.

Promod Boro, president of ABSU told that they have refused the letter reached from state government where there is no any clear mention for holding tripartite talk to the Bodoland issue. He said that letter was saw only requested to withdraw hunger strike .

'We totally refused the letter and want direct intervention from Centre over the Bodoland issue . We are continuing our hunger strike for the caused of Bodoland', Boro said.

Choudhury, DC told that the government sent a letter to agitator groups for holding talks, but they refused the letter. He said that chief minister is assessing the hunger strike in Kokrajhar. He said that he has intimated to the state government about ongoing hunger strike seeking solution of Bodoland issue.

Dr J Narzary, health and medical officer, Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital told that health conditions of agitators are going deteriorate due to strike. Most of the agitated members are facing weak health as 100 hours passed so far.

BTC Deputy Chief Kampa Borgoyary laid foundation stone of a 100-seat girls hostel at Kokrakhar's Bodoland University complex on Wednesday. Borgoyary said atht the BTC administration was working towards developmental spirits for university besides education uplift in the region.

Four KLO ultras held

Security forces belonging to police and army jointly conducted search operation and apprehended four cadres of Kamatapur Liberation Organisation(KLO) from Kaliphukri area under Kokrajhar PS on Tuesday in Kokrajhar district.They were identified as Mridul Roy alias Surjo Koch, Kokrajhar district area commander, Dhananjoy Roy alais Dhorka,depuy area commander,both 38th batch Myanmar trained,Kanak Roy and Konujeet Roy,locally trained cadre.Four pistols, three hand grenades,several live round and incriminating documents were recovered from them.

Two dies in road mishap

Two persons succumbed to hospital and four others received injuries at a road mishap at Titaguri along the JD Road this evening in Kokrajhar district. According to police,a Tata Sumo vehicle bound for Haltugaon from Kokrajhar town on over speeding hit several motorbikes,alto car and commutters where two succumbed to hospital and four others received serious injuries in the incident. The Sumo vehicle bearing Resgistration No.AS16A-8661.The death were identified as Nijwm Brahma,a staff of NRL oil depot and Binode Yadav.The injures were imediately rushed to MRM Hospital and RNB civil Hospital,were identified as Kairul Islam,Nirmal Debnath,Streeling Basumatary and Paresh Chandra Barman....

Four spotted top 20 and AHM in BTAD

Private managed schools saw better results than government schools in BTAD region with three students spotted in top 20 positions in HSLC examination and a student spotted 3rd in Assam High Madrasa, besides Chirang and Kokrajhar district saw first and third position respectively from bottom-line amongst the state in the result performance. SSB camp hit by heavy rain

Heavy rain followed by heavy thundering damaged the various vital electric installations and communication set ups at Border Outpost Dadgiri of 16th Battalion (Bn) SSB Ranighuli along the Indo-Bhutan border in Chirang district on Monday. The havoc took place on the late night of Sunday , and affected the communication set up of BoP Dadgiri along with CCTV camera installed at entry-exit gates, various numbers of CFL bulbs, fans and other equipments, included adopter of WLL phone, SMPS , one of 25 Watt VHF (Antenna) High gain. Timber laden truck mishap

Just few days post declaration for withdrawing some forest check gates across the state by Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, forest department seized illegally carrying timber logs following a truck met road mishap late Sunday night along 31C National Highway at Barsangaon near Karigaon in Kokrajhar district. A truck bearing registration No. AS-18C-4636 carrying illegal Sal timbers coming from Athiabari bound for Bongaigaon through 31C National Highway was met road mishap at Barsangaon late last night, however driver and smugglers manage to escape from the spot through scope of dark. Five arrested

Gossaigaon police arrested five persons red-handed including a police and two homeguard at Srirampur inter state check gate on Sunday in Kokrajhar. According to Bhawar Lal, Gossaigaon SDPO, the police conducted operation into check gate today morning and able to red-handed a police and two homeguard including two civilian while they were collecting illegal taxes from trucks. They were identified as Dilip Kumar Roy(police), Ranendra Roy and Ranjit Barman(home guards), Dipangkar Roy and Pijush Talukdar. Cash Rs. 3780, seven mobile handsets, two motor bikes and a register book were also recovered from them.  'Search operation is on', said a senior police officer.

Medical camp in Kokrajhar

Hundreds of heart patients from different parts of Kokrajhar district participated and took health check up in the free heart medical camp held at MRM Memorial Hospital in Kokrajhar on Saturday.
