In a huge respite for Manipur, the United Naga Council is lifting the 130 day long paralyzing economic blockade on Monday.
The influential organization of the Nagas in Manipur unanimously finalized the move after the new government assured them of measures to redress their grievances at an earlier date.
From Monday morning two vitals highways, the safe route for transporting essential commodities would resume.
Many organizations, political parties and individuals have welcomed the UNC decision to call off the blockade which has caused immense inconvenience in many parts of the north eastern state.
UNC began the blockade from November 1 after the erstwhile Congress government announced seven new district triggering anger and protest among the Nagas in the hills districts.
During his poll rally Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured the people of steps to end the blockade if the people vote BJP to power.
