Signature Campaign for support of Gorkhaland
A mass signature campaign for support of Gorkhaland in West Bengal has been started off by Sahitya Akademi awardee Prof. Lil bahadur Chetri signing in the flex of map of Gorkhaland at All Assam Gorkha Students' Union (AAGSU) office, Guwahati. Activists of various Gorkha organizations of Assam were present at the event.
"The demand for formation of Gorkhaland comprising Darjeeling, Siliguri, Dooars and Terai region is the result of step son treatment by the Indian administration to the real Son of Soil", said D. B. Limbu, President AAGSU while addressing media persons. Bikash Rai, convenor of the campaign said that they have received overwhelming support from 11 states toured so far and would tour the entire North East.

Arunachal citizens Right (ACR) have raised concern about the rapid pace at which the state government has signed Memoranda of Agreement (MoAs) with hydro-power companies in recent times. As per an RTI reply to the Arunachal Citizens’ Rights (ACR) the state government has signed MoAs for 103 hydropower projects for a total of 30, 000 MW since February 2006. 31 of these MoUs/MoAs were signed in just five months before the Lok Sabha polls, each accompanied by huge monetary advances. A resident of Durgasarbar Hill side of Guwahati, Gome has been playing this sports for the last 15 years.
