A devastating fire that broke out in Dispur has reduced to ashes a part of the Janata Bhawan on Wednesday evening.
According to information, the fire broke out at around 6 in the evening from a room and later it was dispersing rapidly to other rooms before taking a ravaging turn. As many as fifty fire tenders have been called to extinguish the fire but by then the the situation was going out of control.
According to RTI commissioner Dr B K Gohain, the Right to Information cell has been completely ravged n not even as file has been spared.
Moreover, the chambers of Nurjamal Sarkar, law minister Pranab Gogoi, parliament secretries Sarat Saikia, Bidya Singfh Inglng have been reduced to ashes in the major fire.
The authorities have yet to ascertained the reasons behind the ravaging fire that has reduced the seat of power to ashes. Initially, electric short circuit is said to be the source of the ravaging fire but a high level probe will be able to unearth the truth behind the fire.

Isn't it convenient that the Right To Information (RTI) department was reduced to ashes. A similar "short circuit" happened when the veterinary scam was being investigated. all the scam papers were destroyed by a "mysterious" fire. This time I wonder how many corrupt government officials and ministers will benefit from this fire.

A special court in Guwahati has asked the Central Bureau of Investigation to institute a fresh probe into the PC Ram killing case.
The order was issued on Friday a day after the son of the FCI executive director moved the court alleging that the charge-sheet filed in the case was incomplete. The National Green Tribunal has asked the ministry of environment and forests to step up action against the unauthorized industrial units operating in the No Development Zone around the Kaziranga National Park in Assam. Security forces arrested five UNLF militants from Jorabat area in the city on Friday. The militants were travelling in a car from Aizawl in Mizoram to Guwahati when the police and CRPF personnel intercepted them. Police on Thursday arrested a KLO member charging him with kidnapping and murdering Gadapani Pathak last month.
