Simmering protest erupts in Namrup on Monday over the Nagaon incident where a tractor dealer of doubtful integrity along with his associates assaulted a group of former rebels ad they were raising fund to feed the flood hit.
Led by former ULFA Coordination Committee, many local organizations took out a huge torch rally warning the anti Assamese lobby and people of dire consequences if they in any form ate found to be involved in it.
Namrup local AASU leaders and workers and their AJYCP counterparts joined thr rally which ended at the Namrup Sonari Tiniali with a public meeting. Former ULFAleader Jiten Dutta said they are well prepared to deal with these disturbing forces which struck in Silapothar. “Why don’t we try yo learn the lesson from Nagaland where the common people took law at their hands to punish a rape accused.

The programme was organsied by daily bazaar shop keepers assoctiation and local people of the area.
The 11 hour Assam bandh called by North East Students Organization ( NESO ) and All Assam Student Union ( AASU ) , supported by many other organizations opposing the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 was total in Namrup. The town wore a deserted look as vehicles of all kinds remained off the road. Schools and colleges, shops and markets, banks and offices were seen closed. The bandh supporters burnt tyers at Namrup Sonari Tiniali , BVFCL Main Gate , APL Main Gate and Sarmah Tiniali to stop the movement of vehicles.
The Namrup regional unit of All Assam Student Union ( AASU ) organsied protest against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 by blocking the road and burning tyers at Sonari tiniali. The demonstrators shouted slogans against the state and central governments exibiting play card "Kendriya Government Hai Hai, Raijya Sarkar Murdabad, Mukhyamantri kam nai". More than one hundred AASU activists and local people took part in the protest.
