Tangla HSLC '92 batch alumni meet held
The 1992 Tangla HSLC batch from different nearby schools organized a reunion providing an opportunity to the alumnae to walk down memory lane along with linking up with friends at Arunodoi Jr. College on Sunday. More than 50 members of the batch attended the event from different parts of the state. The day long celebrations began with plantation of saplings in campuses of various schools of the town which was followed by an open session in the evening. The session presided by Alumnus Prabin Baro began on a nostalgic note.
The maiden speech of the session was delivered by Bhaskar Sahariah. Retired teacher of Tangla HS school Arun Sarma inaugurating a souvenir- Sahapathi '92 on the occasion lauded the efforts of the alumnus of HSLC 1992 batch for organizing such an event. He observed that the teachers greatest gift is when their students out shine in different fields and establish themselves in different corners of globe. Symbolizing 25th year reunion of the 1992 HSLC pass out batch of Tangla HS school HSLC centre the only exam centre of the town then 25 earthen lamps were lightned. The alumnus also paid homage to the departed souls of the friends and teachers. Most of of the alumni had come with family and took time to introduce their families to all in the interactive session were the alumnus reminisced the nostalgic moments of school days.A cultural programme was held on the occasion where the alumni sang popular numbers danced and feasted together .
Alumnus Dr. Babu Pathak a doctor in a private hospital of Guwahati said that that the exuberant participants were on cloud nine on meeting their batch-mates. The alumnus also decided to form a HSLC 92 Batch Benevolent Fund meant for philanthropic activities specifically aimed for the aid of the alumni members in dire crisis near future and unanimously selected Alumnus Prabin Baro as President,Bhaskar Sahariah as Secretary and Manoj Kr. Agarwalla as Treasurer of the benevolent trust.

UDALGURI: The Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of newspaper reports of the alleged incident of police atrocities on a doctor in Chirang district on Friday.
AHRC has issued a notice to the District Magistrate, Chirang to cause an inquiry into the incident where media reports stated that the Officer-in-Charge of Amguri PS in Chirang District not only assaulted Dr. Madhurjya Kakati, in-charge of the Amteka Mini PHC but also made him to kneel down along with two others for not wearing masks.

TANGLA: A devastating inferno gutted six houses in Pujakhola locality of Tangla town on Tuesday night at about 9 pm.
Though the source of the fire has not been ascertained ,fire broke out followed by explosion of six cylinders razing the properties worth lakhs to the ground within minutes.
The house belongs to Fakira Ansari, Manik Ali,Bhim Ram,Raj Kumar Prasad,Akon Rabha and Sankar Basfor.

UDALGURI: A baby hog deer weighing about six kilogram was rescued by Mithu Sarkar and Ankit Tanti, two activists of Green Valley Wild Life Protection Society, an NGO of Orongajuli tea estate area today at about 3.00 pm and handed over this to the Udalguri forest department in a healthy condition.
While talking to this correspondent, Mithu Sarksr informed that the NGO has been instrumental to rescue young ones of hog deers, wild elephants, tiger cubs in the near past too and till date, it has been able to rescue such animals which came to their notice.

TANGLA, May 20: In an unfortunate turn of event a 32 year old reputed businessman Roshan Patowary an inhabitant of Ward No. 4 of Tangla town in Udalguri district was electrocuted to death while fitting an inverter battery at his residence at about 8 pm on Tuesday night.
Neighbours witnessed the body of the youth lying in the verandah of the house on Wednesday morning and informed police.
