Disrupting leopard killed, consumed in Namrup

NAMRUP:A section of people in a remote hamlet in Namrup killed a leopard hours after it killed a lady and hurt 3 others in a series of attack on Friday morning. Not only that after lynching, the villagers cut the animal into pieces in full view of the forest officials. Then they  claimed to have consumed it triggering widespread anger among the animal lovers.

These disturbing incidents took place in Majkopihuwa goan and Asomiya Gaon where the local villagers in large number chased the leopard after it killed Maikon Gogoi and injuring three others in s series of attacks in the morning.

The animal then was beaten up to death. A section of them cut it into pieces to vanished. Some of them later claimed to have consumer it which needs to be probed.

The reason why the leopard attacked people is not mentioned. A leopard won't just go on an attack spree. I would assume that these would have been either chance encounters or the leopard retaliating when provoked

The authorities have suspended 15 constables in Cachar district for not attending duty at the poll material distribution centre in Silchar on Friday.The constables are Hussain Ali, Pravin Bora, Najmul Haque Choudhury, Ananta Kumar Nath, Nasirul Haqque, Ibocha Singha, Mihir Kanti Das, Shiv Kanti Dey, Krishna Sinha, Dipak Kanti Das, Mridul Choudhury, Gautam Sinha, Kadir Hussain Laskar, Jahar Kanti Nath and Bijoy Sinha.
Badaruddin Ajmal seems to have landed in trouble again.According to a statement, the country’s poll panel has served notice to the AIUDF president seeking his clarification on his recent communal statement.The notice was issued to him after the commission took up a complaint filed by BJP.The commission has threatened him of strict action if he fails to clear his position by 11-30 on April 14.       
The Assam Public Service Commission has announced the schedule for the Assam Civil Service Combined competition   examination.In a press release, the panel informed that altogether 2,900 candidates would appear in the examination to be held from June 14.
Finally, it’s a respite for voters in Karbi Anglong district.KPLT has withdrawn indefinite bandh call from Friday. This will enable the voters to exercise their franchise in the Lok Sabha polls on Saturday.  The Karbi Peoples' Liberation Tigers (KPLT) militant outfit called for an indefinite bandh since April 8 in the Karbi Anglong district under Autonomous District (ST) demanding immediate creation of a separate autonomous state.
BJP workers in poll bound places are eagerly waiting for Narendra Modi to boost electioneering.The BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will again visit the state to campaign for the party candidates for the Lok Sabha polls.The Gujarat Chief Minister is scheduled to visit the state on April 17 where he would hold three poll rallies in Barpeta, Mongoldoi and Nagaon.Apart from Guwahati, Modi earlier held rallies in Sivasagar, Lakhimpur, Tezpur for the first phase of polls.
Former Congress MP Mani Kumar Subba’s condition shows signs of recovery. But he is still not out of danger. The Tezpur independent candidate is on ventilation support at the Medanta City Hospital in Gurgaon.Subba, who is contesting from Tezpur in the Lok Sabha polls suddenly fell ill on Thursday last at his residence in Lakhimpur before being flown to GNRC in Dispur.His family members rushed Subba to Gurgaon for better condition where he is not out of danger.

At least five persons sustained serious burn injuries when a market caught fore in the outskirt of Guwahati on Friday.The incident took place at Sontoli in Boko where a devastating fire broke out in the market in the wee hours.The reason of this ravaging fire has yet to be ascertained. But it rapidly spread over a huge portion of the market where at least 30 shops have been gutted to reduce properties worth Rs 3 crore to ashes.Fire tenders arrived in the spot an hours after the fire broke out. But by then many shops were ravaged by the inferno. Ten fire tenders took several hours to bring the situation under control.     The extent of damage has yet to be ascertained....
