NAMRUP:Good news for the unemployed lots in Joyepur, an undiscovered tourist spot in Dibrugarh district. Courtesy Assam Tourism Development Corporation. The government undertaking will pick up 50 youths to promote tourism in the area by showcasing the uniqueness of Assamese culture and tradition.
Disclosing this in the sidelines of the Joyepur Rain Forest Festival here on Saturday tourism minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said 50 youths would get ₹3lakh each to build house to keep the outside tourists who would be able to feel the pulse of Assam, it's and their colourful culture and tradition.
Apart from it, the government has planned to build a resort for the tourists in Joyepur area which is full of potential for tourism promotion.
Before that opening the three days annual festival Sarma said Joyepur now need not Lah behind. He said the BJP-led government has explored the immense potential in it which needs to be tapped.

Dibrugarh road turns deathtrap

Namrup: The dilapidated condition of a vital road in Dibrugarh district has been causing no less inconvenience for thousands of local residence apart from those who keep travelling in area. That too at a time when the government claims to have revolutionised the surface communication sector. ULFA(I) rebel held in Sivasagar

Namrup: Rebel elements still keep unleashing terror in many parts in the form of extortion apart from recruitment drive even in the festive season. Army and police apprehended an ULFA(I) rebel during a joint operation in Sivasagar district on Saturday who was said to have been carrying extortion and recruitment on behalf of the rebel outfit. Acting on a tip off army jawans from Maibela and Joysagar along with police launched a joint crackdown in Bokota near Nemuguri where, the rebel identified as Navadeep Chetia was arrested. Then Nemuguri police took him into their custody after a pistol, two rounds of bullets were seized from his possession.

Undying festivity in Namrup

Namrup: Festivity refuses to die down in Namrup where sounds of dumbs, buffalo  horn pipe along with other traditional musical instruments mingles in the air that makes the mood more vibrant. Namrup: The Assam Press Correspondent Union has strongly condemned the petrol bomb attack at the residence of prolific writer and journalist Patricia Mukhim in Shillong on Tuesday. NAMRUP: More than 3,000 tea garden workers and their family members raided the management of the Dilli Tea Estate in Namrup reiterating a slew of demands on Wednesday.
