DIMAPUR: Nagaland is bracing up for yet another crisis amid an uncertain pre poll landscape. The influential civil society organizations have threatened to enforce an indefinite statewide bandh if the Election Commission proceeds to hold the assembly polls on February 27 without implementing the peace framework agreement.
Convening a crucial meeting of all the political parties in Kohima on Monday the civil society organizations who told told the political parties not to contest the polls in the present formate said that they have conveyed the strong message to the Centre and Election Commission to halt the poll process without resolving the vexed decade old issue.
"If the poll panel refuses to listen to our voice of concern and the Centre remains unmoved by January 31, 2018 we have no option but to enforce the statewide indefinite bandh call from February 1," said a civil society leader who attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, many organizations and individuals have welcomed the move against the upcoming assembly polls without addressing the main confronting issue at an earlier date.
"Our demand and concern are limited. But decade old. We have heard lots of promises during the last four decades. Don't have we right? The Nagas have one voice. Resolve the issue simply and allow us to participate in voting. If you can't do it. Don't hold the polls," said Bobby Konyak, a local civil society leader in Dimapur.
