KOHIMA: Nagaland BJP has stepped up action against TheNewsJoint.com, after lesser known news portal broke out a story alleging Ram Madhav's stay at hotel in Dimapur with two girls.

Issuing a statement hours after the damaging story went viral in social media state party president said the story was totally false which aimed at tarnishing the image and integrity of the BJP heavyweight who has been handling the party's affairs in the north eastern region.

The state president further threatened to initiate action against the news portal under the IT Act.

GUWAHATI:Properties worth several crores have been reduced to ashes when a ravaging fire broke out in Fancy Bazar in Guwahati on Tuesday. The incident took place at a goodwon which caught fire early in the morning. The initial reason is said to be electric short circuit. GUWAHATI: The All Assam Students Union has strongly condemned the Tinsukia shoot out where suspected ULFA-I rebels shot dead a villager and his son who was a former AASU leader. Talking to Assam Times over telephone, AASU leaders said they dont have proper word to condemn this hineous attack on common people. " We condemn this incident and demand arrest of the perpetrators immediate," said an AASU leader over telephone from Guwahati. 
GUWAHATI: The NSCN-IM rebels based in Arunachal Pradesh are believed to have detained two top ULFA-I counterparts in Changlang district for alleged extortion drive in their territory. According to sources, the pro talks Naga rebels who have been camping inside the Namdapha forest held them to detain for several hours from Sunday night charging the duo with extorting money in the neighbouring state where they are not authorized. One of the ULFA-I doves is said to be Bagh Asom, a close aide of C-in-C Paresh Baruah who is learnt to have been talking to the Naga rebel leaders to ensure their safe release.

GUWAHATI:Pro talk NDFB chairman Ranjan Daimary appeared before the first tract court in Guwahati on Monday in connection with the 2008 serial bombing where nearly 100 people were killed in Guwahati, Kokrajhar and Chirang. The Central Bureau of Investigation which probe the incident chargesherted him along with twenty others. The court started first track hearing from last week where 14 former rebels appeared. Daimary appeared on Monday only and thr special court is hearing the case on day to day basis from Monday.
NEW DELHI:The Supreme Court has turned down the anticipatory bail petition of Nishamoni Deka who has been escaping the police in connection with the notorious APSC scam. A division bench of the court on Monday morning heard the bail petition and straightly rejected it. Deka moved the top court when a special court in Guwahati rejected it.

 TEZPUR: A speeding train crushed to death five wild tuskers in Sonitpur district sending huge shock and anger across the state on Sunday. The incident that triggers anger against the forest department took place in Balipara early in the morning where a herd of elephants crossed the rail tracks as the No  15617 Guwahati-Naharlagun Donyi Polo Express was moving. These include stillborn calf.  With this the number of wild elephants killed by the trains since 2016 has gone up 12 triggering protest by the animal lovers who slammed the forest department for failing to control the wild elephants.
