LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur police have arrested four youths on Monday hours after they allegedly gangraped a 14 year girl in Naoboisa before dumping her on the roadside.
Acting on a tip off, a team of police picked up the four youths while another is absconding. Identified as Munindra Sarkar, Ramani Ghose, Gushan Mandal and Manoj Biswas, they were picked up from Kolakhowa area in the wee hours. A team of senior police officers has been interrogating the accused persons who would be produced before the local court seeking them in police custody.
The gory incident took place on Sunday evening in Naoboisa area where the minor girl was forcibly picked up from the road to be gangraped by five miscreants at night.
She was rescued in a critical condition on the roadside in the wee hours. Local residents and police have rushed her to the hospital where she has been battling to survive.
Meanwhile, many local residents and individuals have demanded exemplary punishment of the perpetrators.
