Peace or no peace: Five ULFA killed in encounter

Once again the blazing gunfire could bury the hope of peace in Assam if the fresh killing of five ULFA cadres is any indication. The incident took place in lower Assam’s Nalbari district that rocked Saturday night at Maina village.

All it happened the Assam police and CRPF were jointly running an operation against some hiding ULFA guys acting on some specific inputs.

Police claims that they have recovered some weapons also from them. The fierce gun battle lasted for about 45 minutes and the firing was on from both the sides.
In yet another incident, a businessman named Dinesh Devnath was kidnapped from Basugaon township in Chirang district on Saturday evening by five ultras in an Alto car. They ultras also sprayed several rounds of bullets on air and managed to flee from the spot. An angry mob gheraoed the local police station and the situation spanned out of control forcing the police to fire tear gas shell to disperse the mob. Investigation is on.
