Senior inter district archery championship begins in Kokrajhar

The 16th All Assam Senior Inter District Archery Championship -2018 was kicked start from Saturday at Dheer Beel near Chakrashila Wildlife Sanctuary in Kokrajhar district. In the championship, ailing gold medalist Gohela Boro of Kokrajhar has also participated the championship and presented her sporting talents.

 A total 17 districts participated the championship across the state and large number of archers participated the championship with sporting environment which showcase attractive archery events.The event was organized by Kokrajhar district sports association in association with organizing committee of the championship.

Ajuna aawrdee and international boxer from Maniour L Sarita Devi attended as chief guest to inaugurate the championship in the presence of huge gathering of sports lovers and dignitaries.

Devi said that the Assam state as well Bodoland region have many talented sportspersons on many events who are representing the region in national and international level.Since many years,Assam and Bodoland region have been seeing good number of sports stars,who are displaying their excellence in the sporting arena.She said that Assam state will be getting good number of budding talents players from the championship in coming days.She has extended her best wishes to all participants and hoped that budding archers will carry out best career through the events.

Devi while replying about her sports career,said that she was preparing to participate in the pre Olympic games i n 2019 to make possibility for the 2020 Olympic events.  She has optimistic that she will be able to win a gold medal in the Olympic event and for this mission she is now practicing with heart to win gold.

In the championship, ailing archer Gohela Boro of Amguri Kokrajhar has also participated the event and presented her archery talents along with her colleagues. She said that she is now under treatment due to facing diseases,yet she is taking part the competition along with normal players.She said that she will move to New Delhi by February next for medical check up,but now facing financial hardships due to poverty.She also expressed her willingness to get a government job if she gets any appointments in the government job in her life.

She has promised to earn gold medal by participating in a national or international events in coming days if opportunity favour in her life.

BTC executive member Doneswar Goyary told that Kokrajhar is lucky enough to organize the senior archery championship at Dheer Beel,a picnic spot in BTAD.He said that many national and internation level players participated the championship and presented their sporting atlents.

Among others,Kokrajhar SP Rajen Singh,SAI Boxer coach Gita Sanu,KDSA officials were prominent attendees on the occasion.

Pollution testing centre seized

Police arrested two persons on Thursday, who are involved with illegally distributing pollution certificate  without any vehicles for few years in Kokrajhar district. Police  raided the immission testing centre,owned by Samir Bhattacharya in Kokrajhar town along JD Road near Ramkrishnapur. People alleged that the centre sells pollution testing certificates to  vehicle owners against huge money without proper testing.  

Railway carries out eviction drive

Railway department official in association with Kokrajhar police administration carried out eviction drive against the illegally occupying of railway land near rail station in Kokrajhar today. At least 27 houses were dismantled in the eviction that was carried out to cleared up rail land along railway track west of Kokrajhar station. Peoples,who were evicted said that they have been evicted without prior nitice today.They have been living along the railway lands since few years,but today face eviction situation. 'Illegally settling along rail lands would be evicted as per rules of the department to cleaned up rail tracks', said a senior officer fron Alipur Duar Rail division.

Bathou is aboriginal religion of Bodos: Mohilary

BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary said the Bathou is the aboriginal religion of Bodos through which Bodo community could be identified in the world. The All Bathou Religious Union observed Gwthar Bathou San (Pabitra Bathou Divos) with two-day programme scheduled at Baganshali Bathou Thansali in Kokrajhar on Tuesday in Kokrajhar. Citizens and members of Bengali Yuva Kalyan Parishad, Kokrajhar paid floral tribute to Netaji Subash Chandra Bose on his 121st birth anniversary being organized at Shantinagar in Kokrajhar town. Police intensifies security in Kokrajhar

Three ultras held

Security forces apprehended three NDFB-S cadres from Taisoguri under Runikhata PS on Chirang district today.  Based on inputs about presence of the militant cadres in tgd area, a joint team of police abd army carried out a search operation and apprehended the cadres at a house if Prahalad Mushahary where they were hiding.They were identified as Dakaru Mushahary, Kapilau Basunatary and Birjay Mushahary.   A 7.65 mm pistol, two magazines, a country made pistol, two grenades, four round ammunitions were recovered from them.

Mountaineering team left for Sandakphu

A mountaineering team from Bodoland left for high altitude trekking practice on Sandakphu-2017  under mission   Bodoland on Mount Everest-2019. Bibekananda Choudhury, Kokrajhar deputy commissioner flagged of the team for Sandakphu. The team comprising of 35 members,included four instructors from four districts of BTAD, which was organized by Adventure NGO, Kokrajhar in association with Assam Mountaineering Association. The 9th binniel conference of BTC Region All Assam Gorkha Students Union (AAGSU) begins today with two day programme scheduled at Bodofa Cultural complex in Kokrajhar. ABSU to move HC for textbooks

 The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) has warned to file writ petition in high court seeking proper educational rights.  The students union slammed state government and Assembly state textbook production and publication corporation for delayed supply and shortages textbooks for Bodo medium schools in the state. Three buses seized

 Three passenger buses were detected by sale taxes official and staffs in a search operation along the 31C national high way this morning at Patgaon in Kokrajhar district today.
