In recognition to their hard work and to boost their moral to uplift their competitive spirit, the District Administration, Kokrajhar in association with Inspector of Schools on Monday presented laptops to the students, on Monday in Kokrajhar, who secured more than 75% marks  in the last HSLC and AHM Examinations conducted by SEBA under Anundoram Borooah Award Scheme.

Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, the minister for Social Welfare, Soil Conservation etc.  said the programme serves as an inspirational platform for those who aspire to achieve success in future. She congratulated students for bringing honour to Kokrajhar district especially teachers and parents for their contribution towards the success of their children.

"Of course, results of any examinations of the students of our district are still not satisfactory in comparison to other districts of Assam.This may due to various reasons like still lack of interest of our children in education, proper guidance of parents, and the situation ofcourse as the bandh culture is still going on our district", she expressed with worry.

Biren Chandra Phukan, Principal Secretary, Bodoland Territorial  Council, who chaired the programme also urged upon the students community to work hard for bringing more lourels not only to this area but to the state as a whole. He wished them the best with a hope to do more good results in any examinations in their student life.

Inspector of Schools, Kokrajhar Jagdish Brahma while explaining  purpose of the programme outlined the life story of Anundoram Borooah  as to arouse inspiration amongst the students.

On the occasion, the minister Pramila Rani Brahma ceremonially handed over computer laptops and certificates to five star mark holder students in presence of Addl. Deputy Commissioner Prafulla Chandra Barman, District Elementary Education Officer S.N. Goyary, Uma Rani Brahma, Secretary,  BPF, Women Wing.

In the district, a total of 229 meritorious students will be feted under this award scheme.

Security forces belonging to police and army apprehended a cadre of NDFB(S) from northern part of Chirang district on Friday night. Two students from Upendra National (UN) Academy, Kokrajhar scripted highest marks in History and Bodo subject in today’s declared HS results, besides the Academy scored 100% pass percentage both in Arts and Science stream while Science College, Kokrajhar also scored 98.33% pass percentage in the HS final examination. The Kokrajhar district recorded overall pass percentage in Science 85.32%, Commerce 52.00 % and Arts 68.81% respectively. BTC Deputy Chief Kampa Borgoyary laid foundation stone of a 100-seat girls hostel at Kokrakhar's Bodoland University complex on Wednesday. Borgoyary said atht the BTC administration was working towards developmental spirits for university besides education uplift in the region.
Security forces belonging to police and army jointly conducted search operation and apprehended four cadres of Kamatapur Liberation Organisation(KLO) from Kaliphukri area under Kokrajhar PS on Tuesday in Kokrajhar district.They were identified as Mridul Roy alias Surjo Koch, Kokrajhar district area commander, Dhananjoy Roy alais Dhorka,depuy area commander,both 38th batch Myanmar trained,Kanak Roy and Konujeet Roy,locally trained cadre.Four pistols, three hand grenades,several live round and incriminating documents were recovered from them.
Two persons succumbed to hospital and four others received injuries at a road mishap at Titaguri along the JD Road this evening in Kokrajhar district. According to police,a Tata Sumo vehicle bound for Haltugaon from Kokrajhar town on over speeding hit several motorbikes,alto car and commutters where two succumbed to hospital and four others received serious injuries in the incident. Heavy rain followed by heavy thundering damaged the various vital electric installations and communication set ups at Border Outpost Dadgiri of 16th Battalion (Bn) SSB Ranighuli along the Indo-Bhutan border in Chirang district on Monday. The havoc took place on the late night of Sunday , and affected the communication set up of BoP Dadgiri along with CCTV camera installed at entry-exit gates, various numbers of CFL bulbs, fans and other equipments, included adopter of WLL phone, SMPS , one of 25 Watt VHF (Antenna) High gain. Gossaigaon police arrested five persons red-handed including a police and two homeguard at Srirampur inter state check gate on Sunday in Kokrajhar. According to Bhawar Lal, Gossaigaon SDPO, the police conducted operation into check gate today morning and able to red-handed a police and two homeguard including two civilian while they were collecting illegal taxes from trucks. They were identified as Dilip Kumar Roy(police), Ranendra Roy and Ranjit Barman(home guards), Dipangkar Roy and Pijush Talukdar. Cash Rs. 3780, seven mobile handsets, two motor bikes and a register book were also recovered from them.  'Search operation is on', said a senior police officer.
