In recognition to their hard work and to boost their moral to uplift their competitive spirit, the District Administration, Kokrajhar in association with Inspector of Schools on Monday presented laptops to the students, on Monday in Kokrajhar, who secured more than 75% marks  in the last HSLC and AHM Examinations conducted by SEBA under Anundoram Borooah Award Scheme.

Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, the minister for Social Welfare, Soil Conservation etc.  said the programme serves as an inspirational platform for those who aspire to achieve success in future. She congratulated students for bringing honour to Kokrajhar district especially teachers and parents for their contribution towards the success of their children.

"Of course, results of any examinations of the students of our district are still not satisfactory in comparison to other districts of Assam.This may due to various reasons like still lack of interest of our children in education, proper guidance of parents, and the situation ofcourse as the bandh culture is still going on our district", she expressed with worry.

Biren Chandra Phukan, Principal Secretary, Bodoland Territorial  Council, who chaired the programme also urged upon the students community to work hard for bringing more lourels not only to this area but to the state as a whole. He wished them the best with a hope to do more good results in any examinations in their student life.

Inspector of Schools, Kokrajhar Jagdish Brahma while explaining  purpose of the programme outlined the life story of Anundoram Borooah  as to arouse inspiration amongst the students.

On the occasion, the minister Pramila Rani Brahma ceremonially handed over computer laptops and certificates to five star mark holder students in presence of Addl. Deputy Commissioner Prafulla Chandra Barman, District Elementary Education Officer S.N. Goyary, Uma Rani Brahma, Secretary,  BPF, Women Wing.

In the district, a total of 229 meritorious students will be feted under this award scheme.

Review committee visits detention center

KOKRAJHAR: An eight-member delegation of  a special review committee on detention center, led by chairman Debojit Mukherjee visited the detention center in Kokrajhar on Tuesday. The delegation members include Debojit Mukherjee, deputy inspector of police (Border) and chairman of the committee, district judge (retired) H Singh, IGP of Prisons Barnali Sharma, D Saikia, AIG of Prisons and several senior police officials. KOKRAJHAR: Reiterating the demand for an amicable solution of the Bodoland statehood issue, a mass gathering was organised at Balipara, Sonitpur district on Monday. National Press Day observed in BTAD

KOKRAJHAR: The National Press Day-2019 was observed in four districts of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) on Saturday. Kokrajhar Press Club and district administration jointly organised the National Press Day here at Basic Training Centre in Kokrajhar to mark the national press day. BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary graced as chief guest on the occasion. Indonesia bags first spot in paragliding championship

KOKRAJHAR: Indonesian paragliders have won first prizes in the first-ever Bodoland international Paragliding accuracy championship-2019. The event concluded on Thursday after four day programme at Dangdupur Hill in Kokrajhar district. 68 participants from 11 countries participated in the championship and displayed their paragliding skills. 22 foreign paragliders participanted in the event. KOKRAJHAR: Security forces apprehended three cadres of the Saoraigwra faction of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB-S) in the India-Bhutan border area in Chirang district on Monday evening. Nine countries participate in paragliding championship

KOKRAJHAR: The first-ever Bodoland International accuracy Paragliding championship-2019 began from Monday at Dangdupur Hill, Kokrajhar district. 68 participants, including nine countries, are participating the championship. There are 22 foreign paragliders including four women in the international championship  are from China (5), Indonesia (6), Nepal (4), Korea (5), Japan (1) and Taiwan (1). Community fishing at Samoka River in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar: A sea of humanity is seeing along the Samoka Irrigation sluice gate River bank to participate in the community fishing near Bishmuri in Kokrajhar district on Thursday. The community fishing saw like festivity since early morning. BTC executive member Rajiv Brahma has opened the Samoka Irrigation sluice gate in the morning and then people thronged at the River bank for fishing.
