Sangeeta Barooah Pisharoty, a veteran journalist, will receive the Parag Kumar Das Journalism Award 2023. The award includes a cash prize of Rs 25,000, a citation, and a memento. The award ceremony will take place on May 17.

Sangeeta Barooah Pisharoty currently serves as the National Affairs Editor for the digital news publication 'The Wire.'

The Parag Kumar Das Journalism Award was established to honor the courageous journalist Parag Kumar Das, who lost his life while fighting for the truth. The award recognizes and encourages journalists who tirelessly uncover the truth and bring it to the public.

Mid air collision averted

At least 300 air passengers had a narrow escape when two flights carrying them avoided a mid air collision in near Guwahati on Wednesday. The incident took place in the morning when an Indigo flight from Mumbai was waiting to land at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. Rhino killing spree in Kaziranga

Poachers in the famed Kaziranga National Park have stepped up strikes striking the advantage of the current flood wave. In yet another incident of rhino killing rerun, poachers on Wednesday killed a full grown female rhino along with her calf in Kaziranga and took the horns away. The shocking incident took place in the Bagori range of the national park where the forest guards in the flooded sanctuary spotted the carcass of the female rhino and her calf.

AJYCP demands Rs 10,000 cr for flood hit

The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Monday gave hint of a massive agitation alleging Centre’s indifference towards Assam where lakhs of people have been reeling under flood that has claimed nearly 40 people. Assam flood scene seems to have improved marginally on Sunday as the water levels of the Brahmaputra and its tributaries have started receding in many places.
