NTPC Bongaigaon Salakati has taken a leap forward in workplace safety with the inauguration of a one-of-a-kind Safety Observation Kiosk. Developed by the plant's IT department, this innovative system leverages advanced speech-to-text technology to simplify and expedite safety reporting, particularly for contract laborers.
Simple Design, Powerful Impact
Designed for ease of use, the kiosk requires minimal interaction through just two buttons. Contract workers can verbally report safety observations in Hindi, with the system converting their speech to text displayed in Devanagari script. Saving the observation is as easy as pressing another button, ensuring a streamlined process for documenting safety concerns.
Enhanced Safety Through Technology
"The Safety Observation Kiosk signifies a crucial step in our unwavering commitment to a safer work environment," said KC Muraleedharan, Business Unit Head of NTPC Bongaigaon Salakati. "This system not only streamlines safety reporting but also guarantees timely and efficient handling of these issues."
Recorded observations are accessible in real-time to the safety department and designated personnel directly from their desktops, allowing for prompt responses to potential safety hazards.
Celebrating a Commitment to Safety
The inauguration ceremony, attended by distinguished guests including plant officials, underscored NTPC's dedication to leveraging technology for improved operational safety and employee well-being. This initiative exemplifies NTPC Bongaigaon's unwavering commitment to creating a safe work environment for its entire workforce. The company remains focused on adopting innovative solutions to continuously enhance safety and operational efficiency across all its sites.
