ABSU Threatens to Burn AJS Exam Papers Over Bodo Language Exclusion

The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) has issued a strong warning to the authorities, threatening to burn copies of the Assam Judicial Service (AJS) examination papers on July 17 if the Bodo language is not included as an optional subject in the upcoming Grade-III Mains Examination.

In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer of Assam and the Registrar of the Gauhati High Court through the Kokrajhar District Commissioner, ABSU reiterated its longstanding demand for linguistic inclusion and constitutional recognition.

Key Demands Raised by ABSU:

  • Publication of BTC Electoral Rolls in Bodo language, alongside Assamese, as per the Assam Official Language (Amendment) Act, 2020.

  • Inclusion of a 50-mark Bodo language paper in the AJS Grade-III Mains Examination.

  • Introduction of a 20-mark Bodo language component in the Junior Administrative Assistant (JAA) recruitment exams for district courts, based on previous notifications by the Gauhati High Court.

“Treat Bodo as equal to Assamese”: Dipen Boro

Speaking at a press meet, ABSU President Dipen Boro emphasized that Bodo is listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution and must receive equal status and application in state examinations and administrative procedures. He criticized the authorities for “deliberately sidelining Bodo,” despite it being recognized as an official language in Assam.

“We will not tolerate the continued marginalization of our language. If the AJS Mains paper excludes Bodo, we will be compelled to burn the exam paper on July 17 and launch agitation programs across various districts of Assam,” said Boro.

ABSU announced statewide agitation programmes in multiple districts, including Kokrajhar, Baksa, Chirang, Udalguri, and Sonitpur, to protest the exclusion. The organization has called upon Bodo students and the general public to unite in defense of their constitutional and linguistic rights.

Mass protest demanding separate Bodoland

"Create separate Bodoland statehood under Article 2 & 3 of Indian constitution through political dialogue, otherwise face strong mass agitations",said president of All Bodo Student's Union (ABSU) Pramod Boro. Cattle smugglers arrested

Police launched a crackdown on illegal cattle smugglers and arrested ten persons on Thursday evening at Srirampur area in Kokrajhar district. Police apprehended a truck bearing registration number AS-01GC-3837 carrying 16 cattle illegally from West Bengal bound for Bangladesh via Meghalaya. Police  also arrested Arun Lyngdoh and Munna Saikia alias Ikram Hussain, president and secretary of the All India Livestocks Trader and Transporters Association, as they were escorting the illegal cattle truck. Doctors stage protest

Members from Indian Medical Association (IMA) of Kokrajhar branch has carried out a candle light rally in Kokrajhar town on Tuesday evening in protest against the brutal killing of Dr Deben Dutta, a doctor in Teok tea estate hospital. The rally was started from Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital complex traversed to RNB Road, JD Road,fly over and concluded at the same point. Medical fraternities have strongly protested the brutally attack and killing of Dr Dutta. Daimary welcomes NRC final draft

Rajya Sabha MP Biswajeet Daimary welcomes the publication of the NRC final draft. Daimary said that the state of Assam has now got an opportunity to see illegal immigrants free state. The NRC authority has published the draft lists on Saturday. He said that 19.06 lakh people's names were dropped out from the final draft lists. Daimary said that the peoples whose names were dropped from the lists, they are illegal immigrants or foreigners because they couldn't show their proper citizenship related documents.

KOKRAJHAR: Citizens of the state are much awaited to see the final draft of NRC publication on Saturday . Along with rest of the state, BTAD districts are all set to publish the final draft of NRC with smooth and healthy environment. Demand for smaller states growing

KOKRAJHAR: The National Federation of New State (NFNS) has demanded early creation of new smaller states within Indian constitution.  NFNS include  Bodoland, Gorkhaland, Vidharbha, Kuki state, Bundelkhand, Purbanchal and Kari Anglong autonomous state.
