Climate Action Day

24th October--Around the world today—from capitol cities to the melting slopes of Mount Everest, even underwater on dying coral reefs—people held rallies aimed at focusing attention on the number 350 because scientists have insisted in recent years that 350 parts per million is the most carbon dioxide we can safely have in the atmosphere. The current CO2 concentration is 390 parts per million.


These global actions come six weeks before the world’s nations convene in Copenhagen for the United Nations Climate Change Conference to draw up a new climate treaty. 89 countries have already endorsed the 350 target, as well as the chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Rajendra Pachauri, the world’s foremost climate economist, Sir Nicholas Stern, and Nobel prize-winner Al Gore.


Youth Alliance for Climate (YAC) and Youth Spirit has organised the 350 day of action at the Darwin School of Business (DSB) in Guwahati. The programmes included awareness programme and signature campaign on 24th October. The students of DSB have appealed the concerned global leaders to take up action and combat climate change for the interest of the future generation. There was discussion on the forthcoming COP 15 during the event which is going to be held at Copenhagen later this year. YAC and Youth Spirit have appealed the young people to stand united to combat climate change and to make the campuses climate friendly.

Saraighat film fest from Nov 1

North East Youth Foundation is organising second Saraighat Film Festival (SFF) on 1st and 2nd November in Guwahati. SFF shall screen documentaries made by young people and best documentary shall win prize money apart from other prizes. Any young person up to the age of 30 may join the festival by sending their short films. Maximum duration is 15 minutes and themes are poverty, human rights, livelihood, etc. Interested may send their movies by 29th October. Certificates and prizes would be given to all shortlisted documentaries and special prizes are for winners and viewer’s choice award.

Blood donation by OBA SSG

Old Boys Association of Sainik School Goalpara (OBA SSG) in association with Dr B Barooah Cancer Institute organised a blood donation camp on the occasion of Independence Day on 15th August at the cancer hospital premises. OBA SSG has been organizing blood donation camp on the occasion of Independence Day for last 11 years in different parts of the state and country. Annual Academic Day of Sainik School

An “Annual Academic Day” for the session 2014-15 was held on 02 Aug 2015 at Sainik School Goalpara, the first residential school of its kind in the North Eastern region. Civil Society Consultation on Climate Plan

North East Youth Foundation (NEYF) and North East Dialogue Forum (NEDF) organised a Civil Society Consultation on Climate Change and State Action Plan on Climate Change on 1st August. Participants of the consultation discussed on the impact of climate change in the state of Assam. Health Check up Camp

Youth for Humanity, a Guwahati based Non Governmental Organisation  organised a free health check up camp on 19th July at Kalyan Bhawan in Ganeshguri . This health camp was organised in association with Apollo Clinic and supported by Shree Kalyan Charitable Trust. Dr Mithun Bhartia, Dr Pranita Thakuria, Dr Ruhini Kumari, Dr Nitin Agarwal and Dr M Gayatri attended the health camp and extended their services. Gender mainstreaming workshop concludes

Rajiv Gandhi National Institute for Youth Development (RGNIYD), Regional Centre, Chandigarh in association with North East Youth Foundation (NEYF) organized a Five-Day residential Workshop on Gender Mainstreaming at North East Diocesan Social Forum (NEDSF) in Kharghuli, Guwahati.The workshop that began on July 13 last, successfully concluded on July 17 (Friday) and was attended by over 45 participants from across the Northeast region. Focus on gender mainstreaming for youths

A five day residential workshop on Gender Mainstreaming is going to be organized by Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development and North East Youth Foundation at Guwahati, Assam from 13th July, 2015 to 17th July, 2015. Health check up camp at Guwahati

A free health check up camp was held at Rupnagar LP School, Guwahati on SUnday.  It was attended by many experienced doctors from Wintrobe Hospital, other invitees and people from the locality who got the benefit from the free health check up camp.
