Sanmilita Ganamancha - new political outfit formed


With active initiation by the various Tiwa (Lalung) organisations, mainly by All Tiwa Students Union (ATSU), a new political outfit has come up in Assam with the name and style of Sanmilita Ganamancha.


According to the reports reached here, a conference of various ethnic groups was convened at Morigaon on May 15 last under the aegis of ATSU, which adopted the resolution to give birth the political wing with a view to ensure and safeguard the rights, hopes and aspirations of the local populace living within the Tiwa autonomous council area.


The conference with Rimal Amsih, President of Tiwa Cultural Society, Bhogeswar Teron, President of Karbi Students Union, Khagen Bordoloi, President of Tiwa Yuba Chhatra Parishad and Prahlad Mosrong, President of ATSU in the chair however have stressed the need of all round development of the people irrespective of caste, creed and religion living within the territorial council.


The conference which was attended by the representatives of 25 various organisations, however, through a resolution demanded the State Government to hold the council election on the basis of a genuine voters list. It is worth mentioning that the gazzette notification for the Tiwa, Thengal and Deori autonomous council polls has been issued on wednesday last and the date of poll is slated for June 7 this year.

The United Liberation Front Of Assam (ULFA) on Friday has denied media reports of the arrests of its Commander-in-chief Paresh Barua and the finance secretary Bhaity Barua alias Apurba Barua.
