Reservation for Muslims become a threat for the general people - BJP President

"At present there comes great threat for the Khilanjiya jati-Janagosthi'. The formation of population had completely changed. The AIUDF chief of Assam had raised question in the Loksabha for 10% reservation for the Muslims. This demand might cause a threat for the khilanjiya people of Assam."-- Said Ranjit Dutta, State president, BJP in a press meet at Barpeta press club premises on May 19. Dutta also said that Tarun Gogoi-led congress government had about to complete four years of their rule, but they had forgotten the assurance whatever they had promised during the time of their election. He also called the people to ask the govt why they had not fulfill their assurance. Dutta also demanded the government to solve the international border problem and also demanded to bring back the encroached the 87 thousand hectare land which were under the capture of nearby state. Moreover, he also demanded to preserve the historical monuments at satra nagari Barpeta, rescue the satras, devalayas, mathas, temples and its lands from the encroacher, stop the supply of crude oil, rice, illegal logs, cattle through the river-ways and also urged the govt to strengthen the river police force. He again urged the govt to upgrade Barnagar as the new subdivision of the district, and solve the erosion problem scientifically by the mighty river Bramhaputra and Beki which Had created havoc at Bahari area and so many people became homeless. Besides the president also said to the news persons to complete the construction of Barpeta Medical college as early as possible. The BJP president also informed the news persons that their party would soon started a programme" Gaoloi Bolok" and before that programme they had visited various places of the district like Chenga, Sarthebari and Barpeta town and held Karmi Sabha. He added that the migration problem also becomes a threat for Assam. Barpeta district CPI(ML) today observed jail-bhoro programme protesting against the skyrocketing price hike and the continuous corruption in implementing the various NREGA schemes of the entire district. The district unit took out a procession with slogan against the governments towards the deputy commissioner's office and in front of Deputy commissioner's office they staged demonstration. The urged the government for controlling the skyrocketing price hike which has made the lives of the general people measurable. The sudden price hike of the essential commodities has made the life of the general people miserable. The state government has completely failed to control the price hike. Barpeta district AGP has taken out a protest march on September 14 and later on staged demonstration at the DC office premises. The organisation also submitted a memorandum to the DC Barpeta to take appropriate measures on the sudden price hike of the essential commodities.

Barpeta district Anganbadi workers/ helpers Association staged a 4-hour demonstration at DC office premises on September 1 protesting to fulfill their various demands. In a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi, it was stated that they have been urging the govt to fulfill their demands, but all are futile. In their demands payment of the enhanced rate on central govt salary to the workers; 80% reservation in the vacant post of the chief service women, upgradation of the helpers in the vacant post of Anganwadi workers, stop the work of ICDS to the NGOs.
