Amid a simmering debate over involvement of several ministers in the multi crore scam in NC Hills district, the Assam government is in a process to reopen the letter of credit scam in the animal husbandry and veterinary department. Confirming this, minister Pradyut Bordoloi told the reporters on Tuesday that the government has sent a formal request to the Central Bureau of Investigation to reopen the LOC case where the then Governor S K Sinha not allow the investigating agency to prosecute former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta. Notably, the government has decided to reopen the case at a time when the Opposition AGP has intensified the demand for action against 7 ministers in the Gogoi cabinet in the multi crorer scam in the Dima Hasao autonomous council.

Mohilary distributes land pattas

A total of 702 tribal families were given away land pattas, covering 300 bighas of forest land under the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 under Chirang Forest Division at a function held at Dhunabari Lower Primary school in Chirang Tuesday. PM steps down

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh put in his papers before the President on Saturday.
