100 hours NC Hills bandh

In demand for the bifurcation of NC Hills into two Autonomous districts under 3 (C) of Articles 244 (2) & 275 (1) of the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India, the North Cachar Hills Indigenous Students Forum (NCHISF) has given a 100 hours N. C. Hills Bandh from 4 AM of July 12.

The bringing of the bandh will not solve the problems of people like you and me. why do the people dont get in their mind of living in peace n harmony? The creation and division mind of the political leaders and the outfits will not do good for the common. you and i live in the land not only on individual. i pray for those who is still yet to understand the anger cloudy environment in the peace land of N.C.Hills.

Explosive recovered at Haflong

In a joint search in the Up Barak Valley express at Lower Haflong station in Dima Hasao district of Assam, the GRP, RPF and train escort party recovered huge quantity of explosive in two ownerless plastic bags covered with old clothes at 8.15 PM on Wednesday. These explosive comprising 200 nos of detonators, 200 nos of gelatin sticks and 14 mts of fuse wire were kept in a general coach of Barak Valley express. GRP personal said these materials might be transported to mainland for subversive activities by some terrorist organizations and use people from labour class for the transportation of these explosives.

Bridge collapsed at Mahur, Haflong

The road communications in-between Haflong – Maibang and Haflong – Laisong are totally disrupted due to bridge collapse when the NKC Construction company was passing two overloaded trucks carrying heavy load for the construction of Mahasadak near Mahur, 40 KM from Haflong in Dima Hasao on Monday at about 7 PM. This Bailey bridge with 9 ton capacity was constructed way back in 1980s by the GREF and since then the bridge was not maintained properly. The PWD however cautioned with a signboard saying that this was a weak bridge and the load should not exceed 9 ton. Bomb blast at Haflong

After a lull of few months, miscreants exploded a crude bomb at the residence of one Musafir Ali Laskar a businessman and a resident of Kali Bari colony of Haflong at about 7.15 PM today(Monday). Impact of the blast damaged the front side of the residence causing no casualty. The police immediately rushed to the spot and launched a combing operation to nab the culprits in and around the Haflong area. No organisation has claimed the responsibility till the filing of this report.
