National Integration camp held at Nagaon


To create an awareness of integration among the different community of our country, the ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India has launched a programme called National Integration camp. Through this camp the youths of our country gets an opportunity to understand different cultures of different communities resides in our country. Adarsha Samaj Kalyan Samity, a socio-cultural organization has organized National Integration Camp 2009-2010 from September 23rd to September 29th in colloboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Nagaon, which was inaugurated today by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Nagaon Dr. Om Prakash. All the different programmes related with youth activities is scheduled to be held at Youth Hostel premises in Nagaon town. Beside Dr. Om Prakash, the other distinguished guests who attended the formal inauguration of the camp were Ghanshyam Hazarika, the retired regional Coordinator of NYKS NE Region, Dandi Nath; DSO Nagaon, Monideepa Saikia; District Social Welfare Officer (Nagaon), Jahnabi Goswami; the national president of HIV positive people Forum and M.A. Laskar; DYC Nagaon .


Dr. Om. Prakash on his speech urged the participants of NIC to fight against the unsocial power, which tries to destroy the National Unity. He Added, “ There are many forces which try to destroy the unity of the country as well as to create inter state border disputes.So the youth are the main mediator which can create awareness to build unity among the different communities.” Jahnabi Goswami who attended the function as special guest requested the youths to develop will power among them, which would help them to lead better life. She told “ I am a HIV Positive patient, but as I have a strong will power I am still strong and working for HIV positive patients.” She urged the youths for their dedication and contribution to build a healthy society.


All the guests appreciated the Adarsha Samaj Kalyan Samity for organizing the important programme in Nagaon and hope that this type of programme would help to develop unity in diversity.

The Keshai Khaity puja was held by the Lalung community of Nagaon district April 26. It is believed that a Keshai Khaity temple was established by the forefathers of the tribe in the year 1266 A.D.From then onwards worship is being carried out by every generation yearly in the month of April.
