Cultural Function of Assam by Assam Association of Mumbai

The Assam Association, Mumbai organizes a cultural
function of traditional Assamese music and dance to be
performed by reputed artists specially invited from Assam
on Sunday 23rd September 2007 at Assam Bhawan,
Vashi, from 4 pm to 7 pm. Those cultural items were
created by Sri Sri Sankardeva, the greatest cultural and
social reformer of NE India.
On this occasion, the association takes the pleasure to
invite you and your associates/journalists to make this
event a success. We shall be grateful, if you kindly grant

It was very nice to get the news about the celebration of greatest saint of Asom Srimanta Sankardev, who was the founder of basic culture and peace in Assam, which is still followed to maintain our strong history.

Blast accused remanded to judicial custody

The AGP unification process hits yet another roadblock with the party finding it difficult to comply with the terms and conditions of its breakaway group AGP(P).The differences cropped up when the unification panel members a few AGP(P) leaders in Dispur which failed to resolve it.The first one problem came up when AGP included members of PLP and TGP in the steering committee forcing the AGP(P) members to protest their non-inclusion. The Journalists' Forum, Assam has strongly condemned the killing of Jagjit Saikia, a Kokrajhar based scribe, who was associated with a vernacular Assamese daily, Amar Asom. Journalist shot dead in Kokrajhar

Some unidentified miscreants shot dead a journalist in the heart of the Kokrajhar town on Saturday afternoon. The journalist, Jagjit Saikia, was working as a correspondent of the Amar Asom, a vernacular daily published from Guwahati.According to eyewitness , some unidentified miscreants attacked Saikia when he was standing in front of his office at the Brahma Complex in the heart of the Kokrajhar town. A grievously injured Saikia was rushed to the Rupnath Brahma Civil Hospital but he was declared brought dead.After the incident , the miscreants fled from the scene. Major explosion averted in Rangiya

A major tragic incident was averted in Rangiya on Saturday noon when a powerful plastic bomb was recovered near wholesale market. A 13th Assam Police Battalion jawan shot dead his colleague before killing himself at Lilabari camp in Lakhimpur distict on Thursday midnight.
