Cultural Function of Assam by Assam Association of Mumbai

The Assam Association, Mumbai organizes a cultural
function of traditional Assamese music and dance to be
performed by reputed artists specially invited from Assam
on Sunday 23rd September 2007 at Assam Bhawan,
Vashi, from 4 pm to 7 pm. Those cultural items were
created by Sri Sri Sankardeva, the greatest cultural and
social reformer of NE India.
On this occasion, the association takes the pleasure to
invite you and your associates/journalists to make this

It was very nice to get the news about the celebration of greatest saint of Asom Srimanta Sankardev, who was the founder of basic culture and peace in Assam, which is still followed to maintain our strong history.

The government is considering a hike compensation for the culled poultry even as two more districts in Assam were suspected to have been affected by the avian flu. Union home minister P Chidambaram will soon visit Assam to take stock of the situation prevailing in the state.Disclosing this on Wednesday in Delhi Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said, early in the day, he called on the Union home minister and apprised him of the state's law and order situation.According to Gogoi, when urged Chidambaram assured him that the Centre will not withdraw additional security forces from the state and that if need be the Centre is ready to rush some more forces to deal with the situation.It is learnt that Chidambaram is agreed to set up an NSG hub for the north eastern region in Guwahati.
