In a bid to sensitise students on various career opportunities .North East Youth Foundation (NEYF) had organised a Career Counselling Programme at St Xavier’s School in Diyungbra in the Dima Hasao District on 19th March. The career counselling programme was first of its kind as for the first time this kind of programme was organised in the school campuses which was founded in 2001. Programme was inaugurated by Fr Arul Soosai, Principal of the school and facilitated and moderated by Ranjan K Baruah of NEYF. Various career opportunities were discussed by the resource person apart from providing information to students about their dream profession. Al together 60 students participated in the programme and they interacted with the resources person and got information on various requirements for becoming successful in life. NEYF and St Xavier’s shall organise more of such programme for the students in the locality in coming days as this kind of programme helps the students in their career planning.

Jesuits are doing marvellous job in Dima Hasao District. They have done so much for the children in such a short span of time. I feel so happy to know that the North East Youth Foundation is helping them out in their own humble way. Hope many more good people will extend their helping hands in the days to come.

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Saturday asked police to nab the culprits in the Guwahati molestation case within the next 48 hours. But out of 12 identified police have so far arrested only 4 miscreants. That too five days after the shocking incident that brews widespread acrimony. Chief Minister Gogoi on Friday evening appointed a Special Task Force to look into the matter. Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women formed a three-member team which is in Guwahati to conduct a probe.
A Bihu troupe from Assam will dazzle in London Olympics. A 16-member troupe will be performing Bihu during the Indian campaign for the London Olympics on August 1 and 2 at Royal Festival Hall, South Bank Centre in London. Led by Bihu exponent Ranjeet Gogoi, the team will lead the trip on July 25. KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi on Saturday targeted a satellite TV news channel alleging that a reporter of the channel was actively involved on the Guwahati molestation incident. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Saturday, the RTI activist said that the entire incident was planned by a group of miscreants involving NewsLive reporter Gauravjyoti Neog. KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi on Friday demands President’s Rule in Assam to bail out the state from the worsening law and order situation. Talking to reporters, Gogoi said that Guwahati is teeming with lumpen elements and criminals where the people have no safety and security. He further demanded a CBI probe into the incident saying that the incident suggests total collapse of law and order in the state. He further claimed that the DGP is aware of the whereabouts of the criminals ad that he can’t take action in face of pressure from the government. Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Friday asked Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to strictly deal with the perpetrators in the Guwahati molestation case. Talking to reporters in Chandigarh, Chidambaram strongly condemned the brutal molestation of a girl in Guwahati. Police have arrested one more youth in connection with the recent molestation case on the GS Road. Three suspected NDFB cadres were gunned down during an encounter with security forces in Goalpara district on Friday. According to police, the encounter took place during an operation in Salpara around in the wee hours. In the retaliatory firing, three cadres were killed, while the rest two managed to escape. An AK-56 rifle, a 9mm pistol, a Chinese grenade and over 100 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the spot.
A woman died of electrocution when she was trying to charge her mobile phone in Kamrup (Rural) district on Friday. The incident took place in the morning in Pitambar Hat Bajali village, when the woman jolted as she put the mobile charger to the switch and fell unconscious in her house of the district. Identifiedas Lalita Kumar, she was rushed to the Rangiya Civil Hospital hospital where she was declared brought dead.
