KAAC elections 2011

The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) election which likely to be held on second week of the December, 2011 has started to heat up in the ruling Congress party camp. Keeping aim to return in power the Congress has adopted many political war tactics.

To bring the common voters in favour of them the tactics to be brought into play in the political field. The ruling Congress party on Wednesday publicly asserted by holding press conference at Karbi Anglong District Congress committee conference Hall, Diphu regarding the political strategy to be played with in the upcoming KAAC polls.

While briefing the reporters, Sum Ronghang, President, Karbi Anglong District Congress committee (KADCC) officially disclosed that the party has decided to reach to every voter of 26 MAC constituencies by marching one-day-long ‘Janajagaran Jatra’ on 23rd October.

Ronghang reiterated that the developments that performed by the Congress-led KAAC body during their ten years tenure will be highlighted elaborately among the common voters. Besides, to assuage the problems of economic development of Karbi Anglong will also be discussed frankly among the general voters, Ronghang told the reports.

On the other hand, replying the questions of media persons, Ronghang firmly said, ‘We have no single objection on the peace talks that going to be accorded between the UPDS and Central government in future’.

Speaking on the interim government that demanding by the ceasefire UPDS, Ronghang said that in the existence of democratically elected party seeking of interim government by the ceasefire UPDS is not at all applicable in the democratic country. If they (UPDS) are interested to rule the KAAC then they should challenge first to win in the forthcoming KAAC election. If they emerged winner with absolute majority in the forthcoming elections then we have nothing say here, Ronghang added.

It may be mentioned here that though no alarm is getting to hoop in opposition’s camps as yet but the submission of aspirants candidates of Congress have already been completed. Altogether 144 contenders have already submitted their applications seeking for the party tickets to the KADCC.

It is worth mentioning that among the 26 MAC constituencies’ four candidates comprising Premala Beypi, Howraghat, Sum Ronghang, Langpher, Bidya Sing Rongpi, Mahamaya and Bhuban Chandra Terang , Socheng Dhenta declared confirmed for party ticket. No other aspirant candidates were sought party ticket against the four aforesaid seats. Though candidates are not declared officially against the four seats but it is final a party level source said.
