Its a bid to end the conflict between he people of Assam and Nagaland along the border areas.
A public meeting in the city on Friday attended by the prominent citizens and representatives of the civil societies of
both the two states resolved to end the conflict by an amicable solution to the problems confronting them for decades.
The meeting will hold similar meetings at Merapani in Golaghat district on Saturday to boost the morale of the bid to quell the tension and also to resume friendship.
Addressing the meeting, noted intellectual and former dean of arts, Gauhati University Dr Hien Gohain stressed frindship among the people of both Assam and Nagaland and should instead stand united to seek an end to the problems which have been causing concern for them.
These people also should make the governments of both the states bound to address the issues ravaging them.
Dr Gohain's view was also echoed in the addresses by former Gauhati University Vice Chancellor Dr Debo Prasad Barooah, PCG member Mukul Mahanta, PCPIA convener Dilip Patgiri, AGP general secretary Hiten Goswami et al.
Notably, convened by the Peoples Committee for Peace Initiatives in Assam (PCPIA) Convenor of PCPIA Birinchi Neog, the meting was attended by the Naga Ho Ho, Naga Mothers Association, Naga Students Federation and other organizations.
