Kalam inspires students at Duliajan


Ex. President and missile man, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, attended the special meeting of the golden jubilee ceremony of the Oil India Higher secondary school, Duliajan on january 27 as a special guest and joined a personal conversation with the students of the school. In his 45 minutes speech, the Kalam spoke about the importance of education. He recalled the dedication of his teachers in his primary education . He requested the students to develop self-confidence following the principle of, “ I have wings, I will fly”. The philosopher- scientist, the writer of 135 book, Dr. Kalam also advised the students to follow the four paths -hard work, noble aim, continuity of learning and perseverance. In this programme, the chairman cum CMD of Oil India, Nayanmoni Bora and many other dignitaries’ were present.


Dr. Kalam also laid the foundation stone of the Botanical garden and took part in the tree plantation programme.

A cultural show of All Assam Mech-Kochari National Council, of Assam will be held at public play ground of Haripora-Kochari Gaon of Sivasagar district under Hahsora Mauza from February 22. A historical museum "From Yunan to Patkai" in memory of Chow Lung-Sukapha, founder of Ahom kingdom was inaugurated at Charaidew by fomer DoNer minister B.K. Handique. In Charaidew is the graveyard place of Ahom kings where their mausoleums are lying. The museum was contructed under the area development fund of Bijoy Krishna Handique, former Doner minister and member from Jorhat parliamentary constituency. To develop trade and economic ties with the neighbouring Myanmar, the Indian government will start bus services from Imphal to Mandalaya, Myanmar. A high level team of union surface transport ministry, lead by Joint secretary, will arrive at Imphal on February 21 for this puspose. Already discussions are going on between the Indo-Myanmar border trade Union and Republic Myanmar Border trade chamber and commerce for this service. First the service will run from Imphal and then from Guwahati. The Visa will be first issued from Imphal and then Guwahati.

Nazira district and Namti regional Koch Rajbonshi Sonmiloni jointly observed the 502nd birthday of Chilarai at Udaipur M.E. School, Namti on February 7. The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday arrested ONGC’s civil wing General Manager P K Bora charging him with taking bribe from a contractor in his office. Before that an eleven-member CBI team from Guwahati had arrived in Sivasagar and probed the bribery allegations leveled by a contractor, Chanchal Konwar. Bora allegedly had demanded bribe for his bills to be passed for work done. The CBI team headed by DSP Zamang recovered cash 80,000 from the possession of Bora.
