NERIST showcases in Arunachal Statehood Day


Incredible North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) Exhibition Stall has cherished by the visiting dignitaries from all walks of life in the completion of Silver Jubilee Statehood Day and Festival of Arunachal – 2012 held at Indira Gandhi Park Itanagar during February 20-24.


‘Technology for Tomorrow’s North Eastern States’ was the theme of NERIST Exhibition Stall which was showcased through various people oriented programme like Water Quality Testing just before drinking; Low Cost Vermi-composting Technology for Organic Farming and its effective utilization for both indoor and outdoor plant fertilizer; Bio-diesel for Economic development in rural areas promoting green revolution; Elimination of Child Labour from North East India where 314518 (approx.) children are working in factories, construction, maid servant etc. and call Childline @1098 for claiming 25,000 and imprisonment up to six months according to the Child Labour Act, 1986 for using child labour; Say No To Drugs!!! which might be effects in delay sleeping, nervousness, increase blood pressure & even heart failure, hunger & fatigue and bleeding of nose; Anti Alcohol Drive to save the human life from health hazards leading early death; Municipal Solid Waste Management to keep clean and greenery in Itanagar Capital Complex; Solar Water Pumps for eco-friendly by using abundantly available free sunlight without bearing any fuel cost; Solar-Battery-Fuel Cell Hybrid Power Plant for green energy generation and saving conventional fuels; Solar Powered Computer for using in remote areas by the school going children, where the electricity is still dream; Live Telecast and CCTV Camera for helpful tools for security measures in business establishment, financial institutions, traffic controlling and Govt. establishment etc. Plenty of NERIST Publications are also displayed in the NERIST Exhibition Stall which is cherished by everyone and several leaflet pertaining of the all showcasing item(s), plastic folder containing good wishes of the festival of Arunachal -2012, pen with NERIST printing, attractive pad, NERIST Newsletter named as Interface, NERIST Information Brochure and NERIST Magazine were distributed till the evening of February 24 among the visitors visiting the NERIST Exhibition Stall.

Thousands of people including high ranking dignitaries visited the NERIST Exhibition Stall and applauded with the theme of the Stall and expressed their views as Excellent. Some eminent personality has put their comments in the visitor’s book like “So far NERIST is playing vital role in educating and shaping the young generation of our North East India. We are proud and privilege to have such a World Class Institution of its own establishment in our region”. Some dignitaries also mentioned like “a wonderful and informative display of all scientific facts and reasons’, “a memorable experience to cherish” etc. etc. Some visitors are expresses their willingness to work jointly with NERIST. NERIST Exhibition Stall was coordinated by Debabrata Maji of Mechanical Engineering Department under overall guidance of Dean (P&D) and Chief Coordinator Prof. M. Muralidhar and dynamic leadership of Prof. Dipankar Pal, Director, NERIST. Lakesh Bhowmik, Nil Ratan Datta, Apu Chakraborty and Faculty Representatives, Staff Representative and Student Representatives from various departments of NERIST are extended their wide hand to Coordinator of NERIST Exhibition Stall Debabrata Maji to make this success story.

A NDFB-S rebel identified as Buddhiram Basumatary alias Birkw of Amteka Debrabil in Chirang district was apprehanded from Karigaon area in Kokrajhar by security forces belonging to the Army on Sunday morning. Congress is gearing up to form the Tiwa Autonomous Council after the ruling party won 15 out of 31 seats. The party is trying to get the support of one candidate to complete the formality. “We are in touch with several candidates who have assured us support to form the council,” said a senior Congress leader. The party needs 16 seats to formally form the council. The ruling party falls short of one seat. A senior party leader told ne24 that it would be a problem for the party since several candidates are in touch with them.
