On the occasion of 61st Foundation Day Celebration, Sri Biren Sing Engti, MP (LS) inaugurated the newly constructed boundary wall of N L Daolagupu Sports Complex on Saturday in presence of Sri Debojeet Thaosen, Chief Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council.


This boundary wall was constructed under MPLAD for the year 2010-11 of Sri Biren Sing Engti, MP (LS). MP also inaugurated the biometric access control system for authorisation of entry under BRGF for the year 2010-11. This was followed by a meeting at the indoor stadium wherein Sri Engti announced rupees 20 Lakh for the completion boundary wall while expressing his satisfaction over the successful construction of the wall.

Passengers stranded for hours as train derails

Thousands  passengers including sick patients and children of several trains like Dn Cachar Express, Dn Agartala Express, Up Cachar express  were stranded for several hours at Lower Haflong and Jatinga stations following an accident of a Lumding bound  empty goods train near Bagetar Railway Station in Lumding –Badarpur Hill section of NFRailway on Saturday.The accident occurred at about 10.45 PM of Saturday following which the train communication was totally disrupted for several hours causing immense inconvenience to the traveling passengers of several trains.Meanwhile, railway officials from Lumding and Badarpur including relief trains rushed to the spot for the restoration...

Haflong ASEB under fire

11th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council election passed off peacefully

With the casting of 80% plus of votes in the polling to the 11th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council election passed off peacefully and with great enthusiasm among the people of Dima Hasao District. Right from the morning 7 am, people were seen in long queue at almost all the polling stations in and around Haflong. In the morning casting of votes was 27 % which increased gradually. Power tariff hearing on Saturday

The Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission on Saturday will hear a petition challenging Assam State Electricity Board’s move to hike in power tariff. Dima Hasao election: 1st Poll party left Haflong

Though there have been reports of road block in few areas due to yesterday’s incessant rain, but the polling officials are seemed to be very enthusiastic in regards to the election to the 11th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council slated to be held on May 20.
