SULFA Vs ULFA again

Our special correspondent Guwahati : A full scale fratricidal clash may rock Assam if the words of surrendered ULFA leaders are any indication.

In a statement released here on Wednesday evening, some SULFA leaders have warned the ULFA to abstain from killing their colleagues like Rinku Chaudhory to avoid consequences.Signed by Sunil Nath, Jugal Kishor Mahanta, Saurabh Gogoi, Rosevelt Rabha, Mridul Phukan, Sailen Dutta Konwar, Amal Das and Pratap Das, the statement further urged the government to ensure security to the surrendered ULFA cadres.

The ULFA has claimed responsibility for killing their former colleague Rinku Chaudhory. Hira Sarania (ULFA spokesman) has confirmed that he has been killed because of his past misdeeds.

The government has decided to keep a close watch on the Guwahati based surrendered SULFA leaders According to reliable sources, the police administration will maintain a strict vigil on the city areas where the SULFA leaders reside. They will also monitor the movements of people around the SULFA members in the city.

Moreover, the police are also preparing to make a survey of all rented houses to identify if there are any ULFA people residing with a false identity. It is suspected that there are a lot of ULFA activists in the city's rented houses who want to step up the terrorist activities in the city through bombings and shoot outs.

On the other hand, the extremists group is also quickly changing its cadres operating in the city following the steps for strict vigil by the police.

Highly placed intelligence reports here says the cadres operating in upper Assam are rushing to the city areas to escape the vigil while the city cadres are leaving for the upper Assam places.

Some dogs are surrendered and some dogs are not. But both the dogs are biting our motherland Assam. These dogs should die. If they kill each other let them do that. They will be of any use to Assam only when they are dead.

1 dead, 14 injured in Tezpur town

One died and as many as fourteen people have been injured when suspected ULFA militants exploded a powerful bomb on Wednesday in Tezpur town forcing a spontaneous bandh of the town from afternoon. Blast in Tezpur town: 9 injured

Altogether nine people have been injured when a powerful bomb exploded in Tezpur town at around 2-30 on this afternoon. Three of them are in critical. According to information, the blast took place at Bargola, at a distance of 100 meter away from the Tezpur Police station. Eyewitness say the bomb was planted at a bicycle. The injured people have been rushed to hospital. Police and civil officials are there in the spot. But no lead has been achieved so far. Details are awaited.

6th Kaziranga Elephant Festival rescheduled for April 18-20

The 6th Kaziranga Elephant Festival has been postponed to April 18-20 due to the ongoing examinations, elephant census in the KNP scheduled from February 20 to 26 as well as some other reasons.Earlier, it was informally decided to organise the KEF from February 27 to 29 . Police batons illegal occupants of government land in Tripura

Police charged with batons on an illegal occupant of government land as he tries to block roads and stop police from entering in Agartala, Tripura on 26-02-08. Hundreds of police personnel armed with batons, shields, tear gas and gun started gathering at the Kunjaban area right from the dawn and warned illegal occupants to evacuate the area to which the occupants attacked thus police were compelled to use of baton. 21 persons most of them women were injured and at least 42 persons were arrested. Pulakesh threatens legal action against Govt

Former Assam Assembly Speaker Pulakesh Baruah will seek legal action against the excess inflicted on him after he was arrested by the Nalbari police in connection with the teacher recruitment scam in Nalbari district.
