Dalit Sahitya Academy award to N R Kakati

The Bharatiya Dalita Sahitya Academy has selected Narayan Radu Kakati, chairman of Tiwa Autonomous Council(TAC) for Dr Ambedkar Distinguished Service Award 2007, recognising his service to the society and other literary activities related to the development of the downtrodden and backward people.

The award will be conferred on Kakati on December 9 at the National Conference of the Dalita Sahitya Academy to be held in New Delhi.

It is worth mentioning that Kakati,the leader of autonomy struggle of Tiwa community since 1967,had contributed much to the literature of both Assamese and Tiwa language.
