New Executive Committee of NEMA Formed

A new executive Committee for NEMA (Nagaon Electornic Media Association) was formed at a meeting at the Nagaon Press Club on Monday. The meeting was chaired by Nagaon Press Club president Sri Kanak Hazarika ,the previous executive comittee was dissolved and a new executive committee was formed. The new executive committee is as follows, Kanak Hazarika -president, Palash Ranjan Das -working president,Mithumugda Gohain- Secretary,Vikas Sarmah- Treasurer, three vice presidents – Diganta Talukdar,Usman Ahmed,Pankaj Sharma, three Joint secretaries – Jailil Raj,Biren Bora,Ajit Saikia, Cultural and sports Secretary- Manav Jyoti Bora, NEMA Bulletin Secretary – Tapan Bora with joint secretary Anwar Ali Hazarika ,Office secretary – Yugantar Kumar Bora. The new executive committee discussed the projects and work for the coming year in the meeting.

Mishap in Nagaon: six dead and nine injured

Six persons, including a pregnant woman, died in a tragic road mishap at Puranigudam in Nagaon district. The mishap took place in the afternoon where four died on-the-spot. Two others succumbed to their injuries at hospital. Seven other passengers, who sustained grievous injuries, have been admitted to Nagaon Civil Hospital. The victims included the driver and the proprietor of the Tata Magic vehicle. The passengers were on their way to Jakhalabandha from Nagaon town in the same district. The incident took place when a passenger-carrying Tata Magic vehicle collided head-on with a truck coming from opposite direction at Kakhari village on the National Highway Number 37.

In a shocking incident of superstition related to sacrifice of a girl child, one Basanta Sarma was, arrested Thursday (Octpber 27) on charges of kidnapping a minor child from Tezpur for the purpose of sacrificing it to mother goddess Kali during the just concluded Kali Puja. Road Blockade on NH 37 in Nagaon

Road blockade was staged today afternoon on NH37 near Haibargaon police station by the Truck Owners Association of Nagaon in protest of the release of the two FCI officials by the police.The two officials of FCI godown at senchowa were detained yesterday for questioning for alleged financial irregularities by the police at haibargaon police station.The dua were however let off by the police late last night. The depot in charge and weights in charge of FCI godown situated at Senchowa, Nagaon, Dipti Khatonia and Krishna Sarmah were detained at Haibargaon Police Station on Wednesday for questioning. According to sources the duo were allegedly involved in financial irregularties since many years. Dead Body of a youth recovered

The dead body of a youth was recovered in Burrapahar area under Jhaklabanda Police station in Nagaon district on Thursday afternoon.The dead body has been identified as Sonal Banerjee (26 yrs) resident of Rehabari in Guwahati. The dead body was bearing bullet injuries in the head and there were wounds on the neck as well. The relatives of Sonal Banerjee arrived from guwahati around 3pm in the afternoon and identified the dead body today at Nagaon Civil Hospital. Violence in Uzaragaon village, Nagaon

One Mintu Ahmed of Panikheti village was caught stealing telephone cables from Uzaragaon village by the residents of the area in the night. The accused was caught, thrashed by the public, and tied up inside the village library. The police arrived in the morning and found the person dead.
