Sadhana Das passes away

Sadhana Das (69 years), wife of a benevolent social worker of Jorhat Jiten Das has left her mortal body on 21st June, 2007 at Dispur Hospital, Guwahati. She has left behind her husband, her only son Mr. Jyotimoi Das and her two daughters along with many other relatives.

GOLAGHAT: Tension starts escalating along the Assam-Nagaland border in Golaghat district where the neighbouring north eastern state opened a new sub division in some areas under the territory of Assam. The area in question is the Dhansiri sub division where the people from Nagaland open the Kokoi dub division in full view of the security forces. GUWAHATI:President Ramnath Kovind who is on a three days visit to the north eastern region visited the Kamakhya temple and offered puja to the goddess. Accompanied by his wife, the President arrived in the ancient shrine atop the Nilachal at 10 in the morning and sought blessings from the goddess Kamakhya. This was followed by his participation in the Kumari puja inside the temple premises. He spent around 45 minutes in the premises and then left for Imphal to open the North East Development Summit.
GUWAHATI:A popular actor and director of an entertainment channel in Guwahati has been sent to jail acting on a complaint of domestic violence. According to police, Manjeet Sarma, who is in direction of a few popular serial was sent to jail after he was arrested on Monday. Acting on a complaint filed by his wife Trishna Sarma, Manjeet was interrogated at the Chandmari police station and was arrested. Trishna in her complaint accused him of trying to kill her because his illicit affair with Prastuti Parashar, an allegation vehemently denied by the popular actor who threatened to move the court with a defamation suit.  
KOKRAJHAR: Hundreds of home guards engaged in the various government offices in the BTAD areas have staged dharma in Kojrajhar raising a set of demands on Monday. With banners and festoones they agitated home guards thronged in front of the DC office and staged dharna raising their demands.
