HSLC result: Rahul Kalita to opt for engineering

A festive atmosphere prevailed among the teachers, students, employees of Raha Higher Secondary School and the residents as Rahul Kalita of Raha H.S.School brought glory to the region securing eighth position among the toppers in the H.S.L.C examination held this year. He secured 93.57% with letter marks in all the subjects.

When Rahul was congratulated for his success by this correspondent of the Assam Tribune , Rahul said, " I was confident of getting above 90 per cent marks but was not sure of holding eight position." Rahul studied 15 hours a day to bring a brilliant results to his school. " The teachers of our school and my parents have been a great help for me and it is their blessings which helped me to bag this position ", Rahul said.

Rahul secured 561 out of 600 marks : MIL (85), ENG (93), GSc (97), GMath (100), SS (90), Adv Math (10). When asked about his dream, Rahul expressed his desire to become an engineer in future.

Rahul is the only son of his teacher parents Gajen Kalita, a Maths teacher of Raha H.S.School and Swarna Lata Bhuyan of Charaibahi Girls' H.S. School.His parents expressed happiness at the success of their son and said that they want their son to be an honest man of the society in future.

Rahul was felicitated, soon after the result declared, by Manjyoti Bora , Chairman ,Raha Town Committee , Mridul Hazarika , President, AASU,Nagaon district, Dibyajyoti Bora, President , Raha Block Youth Congress, and the NSUI, Raha unit.

It may be mentioned here that Raha H.S.School , a govt. H.S.School established in 1905, has been securing positions in H.S.L.C results since 1949. In the year 1949 Prafulla Bordoloi of this school secured 7th position, in 1974 Himangshu Dey secured 1st position, in 1977 Arunagshy Dey secured 2nd position, in 2002 Bhaswati Hazarika secured 7th position, in 2006 Dibendu Hazarika secured 10th position, in 2009 Rishav Hazarika secured 19th position and this year 2013 Rahul kalita secured 8thposition from this Assamese medium school.

Nagaon: The Nagaon police today apprehended a snatcher from Bhakatgaon bazar.    Identified as Bilal Uddin of Silongoni village , the apprehended person was involved in a snatching case under Sadar P S.    One hand made pistol was also recovered from the possession of the accused. Nagaon: Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) chief Akhil Gogoi on Tuesday announced a state-wide effigy burning protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the announcement of not declaring Assam flood as a ‘national issue’. Nagaon: A Guwahati based truck driver and his wife have been arrested for reporting a fake truck hijacking case at the Raha police station , police said here on Sunday. Nagaon: The Chief Judicial Magistrate court Nagaon declared two witness namely Numal Basumatari and Ujjal Mesh of Abhi Neel case as hostile.
