Assam players won golds at the International Invitation Karate Championship 2013 held at University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka on June 9.

The winners are Manjit Dihingia – 2 Golds, Raju Kachari – 1 Gold, Dipu Tanti – 1 Gold and Sushmita Paul – 1 Gold.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday blamed it all on NDFB-S militants for the fresh orgy of violence in BTAD areas where 12 people were killed and 15 others have been injured during the last 24 hours.Addressing a press conference in Guwahati after reviewing the law and order situation with top ranked civil and police officials, Gogoi said that the government would firmly deal with the militants involved in the attacks.He said that army and additional para military forces are arriving in the troubled torn areas to bring the situation under control.

The Centre is all prepared to help Dispur deal with the volatile law and order situation in BTAD where 12 people died and 10 others sustained injury.During telephonic conversation with Tarun Gogoi, Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde assured the Chief Minister of all possible help to restore normalcy back to BTAD areas.Apart from 10 CRPF companies, the home minister further agreed to rush army to deal with the situation.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Thursday said that he would reshuffle his council of ministers after the end of the poll process. Talking to reporters in the sidelines of a function in Guwahati, Gogoi said that he would have to contact AICC for reshuffle.“Let the election process end. I will look into it. In a bizarre incident, a person from Lakhimpur was found dead inside the room of a hotel in Guwahati on Thursday. Identified as Guneswar Chutia, the resident of Naoboisa landed at the Hotel Greenland in Ganeshguri on Wednesday. He was allowed to lodge at the Room No 101. But much to the utter surprise of the hotel staff he did not come out of the room. When searched, his body was found lying on the bed. Enquiry is going on.
