JK Borgohain passes away

Veteran journalist, prolific writer and socio economic and political analyst Jatindra Kumar Borgohain passed away on Wednesday following a brief illness.

Borgohain died two died at the Hayat Hospital at around 2-50 in the afternoon two days after he was rushed to it following a serious ailment. Despite best “possible” treatment, he failed to recuperate. He was 72.

Borgohain, who hailed from Jakhalabandha area in Nagaon district started his career of service as an assistant professor of economics in JB College. In 1992, he came to Guwahati and joined as editor wioth a vernacular daily. Since then, he served several media houses. He further joined as  editor in chief with a city based news channel.  A pall of gloom descended as soon as the news of his demise spread like wild fire.

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi along with many other political and non political leadersand organizations expressed deep shock at his demise.

The Bollywood personality who owns the North East United FC in the Indian Super League will kick off a CSR campaign to save the endangered rhinos. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Sunday he said,” since I am an animal activist and you all know about my involvement on the save tiger project. Despite overwhelming protests across the country, racial attack on the north east people refuses to die down in New Delhi. The last victim is a woman from Assam who stays alone in the capital since her husband passed away a couple of months back. The incident took place in Mundka area where four local goons gangraped her inside her room recently. Police rushed to her house after a neighbor informed the incident over telephone. Police caught the goons red handed and then the court sent her to the Tihar jail. Initially, the 30 year old woman was rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital from where she was referred to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. ................
BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary expressed serious concern over rising incidents of extortion cases by NDFB-S in the BTAD area. He said if need be the Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) will stage protest rally against the outfit in every district.Talking to reporters in Kokrajhar on Saturday, Mohilary said that NDFB was carrying out extortion in the entire area much to a major concern.
