Amid Bhugali bihu festivity at least eight persons were killed and 10 others have been injured in three different road mishaps on Tuesday wee hours.
In a shocking mishap, four policemen were killed when the Scorpio vehicle carrying them collided head with a truck in Laluk in the wee hours. Three others have been battling for life in GMCH.
The second mishap took place in Bogionadi where a Tata Mobile vehicle carrying 13 people turned turtle on the road early in the morning where 2 died on the spot while eight others injured have been rushed to the hospital.
In yet another accident 2 people were killed as an Indigo vehicle rammed into a bike in Hajo early in the morning. The bike duo died on the spot.

NEW DELHI:Over 10,000 farmers from north, east and southern states have arrived in New Delhi to hold a huge rally on Monday demanding immediate release of Akhil Gogoi two days after the Assam NSA Advisory Committee confirmed punishment for the peasant leader. GUWAHATI:Two more wild elephants were crushed to death by a train in thr outskirt of Guwahati city sending huge shockwaves among the animal lovers on Sunday. The incident took place at Thakurkuchi near Chandrapur where the Awadh Assam Express- Down rammed into a herd of wild elephants which came down from the Amchang reserved forest in search of food. Trouble for aged journo

GUWAHATI:Trouble brews for an aged Guwahati based journalist a day after he advocated killing of Naga policemen to deal with the border unrest. Gogoi blames BJP govt for NRC delay

  GUWAHATI: Former chief minister Tarun Gogoi strongly criticised the government for the move to delay in the publication of the NRC since the government does not want it. Guwahati resident dead in tiger attack

One person died in Guwahati a couple of days after he sustained serious injury in leopard attack. Identified as Anowar Hussain, the local resident of Dhirenpara area died early in the morning on Thursday.  A leopard, which came down from the nearby hills in search of food unleashed a reign of terror in Dhirenpara area with serial attack on four local resident before being captured inside a school building.  Anowar, along with three others were undergoing treatment at the Guwahati Medical College Hospital where he was released two days later.  His family members have blamed it all on the doctors for releasing him in a haste.
