3 accidents: 8 dead

Amid Bhugali bihu festivity at least eight persons were killed and 10 others have been injured in three different road mishaps on Tuesday wee hours.
In a shocking mishap, four policemen were killed when the Scorpio vehicle carrying them collided head with a truck in Laluk in the wee hours. Three others have been battling for life in GMCH.
The second mishap took place in Bogionadi where a Tata Mobile vehicle carrying 13 people turned turtle on the road early in the morning where 2 died on the spot while eight others injured have been rushed to the hospital.
In yet another accident 2 people were killed as an Indigo vehicle rammed into a bike in Hajo early in the morning. The bike duo died on the spot.

The Assam Government, NEEPCO and  Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad is set to hold a tripartite talks on Monday to break the impasse over the Lower Subansiri hydel project and Ranganadi project. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has urged President Ram Nath Kovind to set up a Presidential retreat in the north eastern region. Sonowal proposed it when he made the newly elected president at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on Saturday.He said the region of eight states would be happy to have a Presidential retreat in lines with the Retreat Building at Mashobra in Shimla and the Rashtrapati Nilayam in Hyderabad.According to an official statement, “A Presidential Retreat in the North-east, besides the existing ones in the North and South will symbolise the unity of the country apart from signifying the unity of our diverse cultures and people of the country."

The Central Bureau of Investigation is likely to probe in the sensational killing of amsu student leader in Kokrajhar which runs to in a hail of shock and anger across the state. Assam Government has constituted a Special Investigation Team headed by senior IPS Officer Anurag Tankhar having experience working with National Investigation Agency to undertake a through probe leading to the killing of ABMSU President Lafiqul Islam and corroborate the findings. This was stated in a press release from Chief Minister's office on Friday.
