3 accidents: 8 dead

Amid Bhugali bihu festivity at least eight persons were killed and 10 others have been injured in three different road mishaps on Tuesday wee hours.
In a shocking mishap, four policemen were killed when the Scorpio vehicle carrying them collided head with a truck in Laluk in the wee hours. Three others have been battling for life in GMCH.
The second mishap took place in Bogionadi where a Tata Mobile vehicle carrying 13 people turned turtle on the road early in the morning where 2 died on the spot while eight others injured have been rushed to the hospital.
In yet another accident 2 people were killed as an Indigo vehicle rammed into a bike in Hajo early in the morning. The bike duo died on the spot.

Rain waters start receding in Guwahati on Wednesday twenty four hours after heavydownpour wreaked huge havoc in the premier north eastern city where two persons were killed. The Assam government has fired a newly appointed lady ACS officer alleging her involvement in the APSC scam suggesting similar action against many others who managed to be selected in the combined competitive examination. M Kalita, the assistant commissioner attached to the chief minister's secreteriat has been fired on Monday in view of her alleged involvement in the scam. According to sources, even after glaring evidence of her involvement she was not questioned by the investigators along with 25 others at Kahilipara last week. Three people of a family died and another sustained serious injury when the vehicle carrying them hit at a roadside tree in Goalpara district on Sunday. The mushsp took place in the afternoon at Hadalapara when thr driver lost his control over the vehicle and hit the roadside where Lyaqot  Ali, Nazia Sultana and Wasim Afzan died on the spot. Local residents in large number came and extricated the three bodies from the mangled vehicle and rescued Shamim Afzal to be sent to bye nearest hospital where he is battling for life.
Senior Naga rebel leader Khango Kanyak will succeed SS Khaplang, the NSCN-K chairman who passed away at a Myanmar hospital on Friday.
