AGP activists in large number staged protest in Nagaon demanding stern action against Padma Hazarika a day after the party suspended the legislator for intentionally got his vote cancelled in the Rajjya Sabha polls.

The regional party workers thronged the party office in the town and burnt Hazarika’s the effigy demanding more stern action against the MLA alleging his conspiracy to lower the party image.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has received a PIL challenging Himanta Biswa Sarma as the Badminton Association of India chairman.In his PIL, Kamalesh Verma said the appointment of the senior BJP leader and cabinet minister in the Sarbanabda Sonowal government is a clear violation of the apex court order against appointment of minister or civil service in the vital sports body. Verma further said Sarma has no connection with sports and that there are graft charges against him. KOHIMA: Nagaland state election authority has not received any instruction from the Election Commission 24 hours after all major political parties agreed not to contest the upcoming assembly polls slated for February 27 alleging the Centre's failure to resolve the main political problem.
