MSF wants NE histories in syllabus

The influencial Manipur Students’ Federation (MSF) has said the mainland India is ignoring the histories and origin of the North East and demanded inclusion of the same in the national curriculum.

“Crimes against the people of NE are taking place in New Delhi and other parts of the country because the people there do not know us and they do not try to value us,” Udai Luwang, advisor, MSF said while talking to reporters here yesterday.

He disclosed that the MSF had recently conducted a survey on the recent spate of attacks on the people of NE, particularly in the national capital, from February 13 to March 12 during which it has been revealed that such incidents are taking place since the people of mainlan India as well as other parts of the country have ignored the histories and origin of the region.

“We demand inclusion of NE histories in the syllabus and textbooks of the country’s entire educational establishment and system,” Udai said.

Udai further said the study has also revealed that the attitude shown towards people of NE by the people of mainland India is quite unsatisfactory.

The MSF advisor also demanded the Central Government to set up anti-racial law to deal with such crimes committed against the NE people and to lower incidents of attack.
