General elections are round the corner. The authorities are also gearing up to ensure free and polls.

The photo identity card of voters are mandatory from this time.

Voters in large numbers have been  receiving their photo identity cards in Nazira sub division.

The photo identify cards are available in polling booths.

But glaring mistakes in the cards already issued have made many voters upset.  

But steps are in process to correct the mistakes.

Draft Electoral Roll Published for Sivasagar District; Total Voters at 5.72 Lakh

In a major breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, Assam Police on Wednesday evening seized a substantial quantity of heroin and arrested three individuals at Namti Chariali in Sivasagar district.
