ABSU  and Pramila Rani Brahma  welcomes NDFB Saoraigwra faction for peace talks

Amid the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) across Assam the reports of leaders and cadres of the banned insurgent group National Democratic Front of Bodoland-Saoraigwra (NDFB-S) coming back to India from Myanmar as part of the ongoing peace talks with the Government of India is being taken on a positive note by the  influential All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) who is apprehensive that if the group have come for peace talks it will bring peace to the trouble torn Bodoland Territorial Council  (BTC) region.

Talking to media persons at Bodofa House Bagansali in Kokrajhar of Lower Assam,General Secretary of ABSU, Lawrence Islary said that, "The  the initiative by the Government of India to bring the armed revolutionary faction of NDFB(S) to the mainstream is a welcome step to ensure ever lasting peace and security to the BTC region and Assam.

He said that  union (ABSU) welcomes the step taken by the Government of India in bringing them back home and it is a sign for sustainable peace and harmony  in the region.

"We exhort  the government of India, to mitigate the issue ensuring fairness and justice to the NDFB(S) and address the political issues plaguing the  Bodos so that brings permanent solution.

Meanwhile,  Assam Social welfare minister, Pramila Rani Brahma also welcomed the NDFB Saoraigwra faction who have returned back from foreign soul for participating in peace talk with government of India.

 She said that through  peace talk the long pending issue will be solved by government of India and peace,progress and rapid development will take place in the region.

Brahma credited it to be effort of  BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary whose fervent appeal to the  anti talk faction of NDFB(s) under the leadership of saoraigwra outfit that the insurgent group have joined to main stream. She also urged anti talk faction of ULFA (I)and KLO to joined peace talk with government of India like NDFB (S).

The National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) is an armed separatist outfit which seeks to obtain a sovereign Boroland for the Bodo people. It was later  designated as a insurgent  organisation by the Government of India.

Pertinently, A special court on January 30,2019 sentenced Ranjan Daimari, the founding chairman of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB-R), and nine others to life imprisonment for their role in the deadly October 2008 serial bomb blasts that killed 88 people and injured 540 others in Assam.
